Spring brought with it a lot of changes for SNC for continued updates visit

Inspiring future
players
The Ben Gatrey Foundation is a
local charity at the heart of the
community and SNC is honored to
be in association with such a cause.
Due to the hard work of the SNC committee with a special
mention to Helen Oates, Spring saw SNC partner up with
the Ben Gautrey foundation, this brought with it
sponsorship money which the club is using to subsidize our
new netball kit. SNC will be buying the dresses for all our
teams with the sponsorship money along with new bibs and
balls. This is a fantastic opportunity for our club, to provide
all teams with smart, new dresses that the girls will be proud
to wear. All our kit will have the Gautrey foundation logo
emblazoned on it so all our members can remember that we
are striving to ensure everyone has the opportunity to
achieve their goals and reach their potential.
Joining forces
Southport Netball is very proud to have
joined forces with the Children’s
University which is an diverse and
vibrant organisation, that puts the child
at the centre of learning. This allows
your child to have a ‘passport’ where
they can accumulate hours to put
towards earning their bronze, silver and
gold awards all of which they can
receive at a graduation ceremony. For
more information visit the children’s
university or SNC website. Sharon
Pook is our residential expert.
Winter League results
Congratulations to all of the teams that played in the
Winter league in Leyland.
It was an successful season for all teams led by head
coach Lynne Barnett. In a tough U15/16 division our
Under 15’s are currently in 5th place with 2 games yet to
play, so third place is still in their sights.
Our U13’s have had a successful winter season and
missed out on the first place spot based on goal average
Nunc cursus magna quis
but this can not take away from their superb effort and
team comradely to beat their opponents.
Training session change
NEW KIT
Our senior training session has now changed! The
session that is held 8-9pm on a Monday evening has
now changed to a drop in netball session. The session is
now £3 an hour and we encourage as many new
members as possible to attend to enjoy a warm up and
then match play. Our aim is to provide a session that
encourages players back to the sport as well as new
members who are looking for a fun way to get fit.
After a lot of hard work and effort
SNC is excited to introduce to its
members our new SNC kit. The
prices vary on size and we remind
all members that buying all of our
kit is NOT mandatory. We require
all members to have purchased a tshirt, shorts or a hoodie in the first
instance. The kit is to show that
you/your child is part of SNC and
that they are proud to represent the
club.
The kit is now able to be purchased
for Whittakers clothes store in
Southport.
Congratulations!
Well done to all our junior members that took part in the Merseyside
Junior festival 2016. All of our players enjoyed the

New Coach and Umpire
Congratulations to Emily Barnett for becoming a Level 2 certified netball coach and a grade C
umpire. To achieve both qualifications is remarkable and we hope to see Emily umpiring at our
tournaments over the summer months. Emily has worked hard within the club over the last year
coaching teams to high standard and mentoring girls on the sideline towards their own netball
umpiring qualifications. This is a superb achievement and has helped to ensure that our club can
move towards our Bronze CAPS accreditation, which will be completed over the next few months.
If you or your daughter is interested in becoming a netball coach, mentor or umpire, please speak to
Emily or another member of the SNC team.
New U12’s

SNC are triumphant
On Saturday 23rd April Southport Netball
had the enjoyment of entering a
tournament in Liverpool playing teams
from as far away as the Isle of Man.
The mixed aged team had representative
from the U13’s to U15’s and played
remarkably well despite not having
played together before. The girls went
into each match determined and head
strong and their will to beat their
opponents paid off winning all of their 5
matches to get to the final. The final
match saw SNC play Capricorn and both
teams played extremely well with strong
defense from both sides. As the final
whistle went both teams were drawing,
therefore extra time was given to give
both teams the opportunity to snatch
away the title.
After another 2 halves of end to end play
it was SNC that emerged triumphant
with ecstatic spectators cheering them on
from the side lines.
Coach Lynne
Barnett was
incredibly proud
of the teams
achievement and
credited all players
for their high
standard of play
and hard working
attitude.
