MARYVALE MEN’S CLUB 2017 TOURNAMENT LOCAL RULES GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY GC • All USGA rules apply. • Out of Bounds is defined by perimeter fencing, range fence and maintenance yard fence. • The fences and fence structure are entirely out of bounds. Relief from them is not free. Proceed under unplayable lie options for any ball on the golf course side of the fence. Cart path relief may come into play in some situations. • Cart Paths (pavement or maintained dirt), yardage markers, irrigation boxes, drainage grates, staked trees, the weather station between #10 and #5, and the pump station between #15 and #18 shall be played as immovable obstructions. • Relief from immovable obstructions is within one club length of the nearest point that allows stance and swing. Complete relief must be taken from the obstruction. This does not guarantee line of flight relief. If in doubt verify with your group. • In the case of the pump station, there must be reasonable evidence that the ball is inside the wall and not in the pond beyond. • Maintained dirt paths are those that have been artificially surfaced with sand, gravel or some other material. • Aeration holes: A ball that comes to rest in or on an aeration hole may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and placed as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. • The lake on hole number 13 has yellow stakes and plays as a water hazard, NOT a lateral water hazard. For a ball that lands in the hazard on this hole, these options are available with a one-stroke penalty: • The player may re-tee the ball. • The player may drop behind the hazard keeping the point at which the original ball last crossed the margin of the hazard between the hole and the spot at which the ball is dropped. • The player may proceed to the drop area short of the green on the right side of the cart path. • Rule 11-4b applies for a stroke played from the incorrect tee box. A two stroke penalty is assessed and the player MUST replay from the correct tee box. The situation must be corrected before making a stroke from the next teeing ground or before leaving the putting green of the last hole. If not, the player is disqualified from the tournament. • In order to be eligible for any prizes, a player must complete the round of golf. If disqualified, for any reason, the player is not eligible for prizes. • Relief is NOT granted for bare spots in the fairway unless the ball has come to rest in an area that has been designated as ground under repair. These areas will be defined by a white line and/or roped stakes. • For disputed rulings, play two balls with approval of other group players. The Committee will make final rulings after the round. • One ball rule – Not in effect. January 19, 2017: These rules are in effect for MMC tournament play until further notice.
