Points will be awarded as usual for the DDRC annual awards.
DDRC END OF YEAR CHAMPIONSHIP
DDRC runs an end of season championship for our members.
During the season, all fully paid up members are awarded points depending on their placings in each class
at each show. Points are awarded to the horse/pony/rider/handler combination.
The points are awarded as follows:
1stPlace = 6 points
2nd Place = 5 points
3rd Place = 4 points
4th Place = 3 points
5th Place = 2 points
6th Place = 1 point
At the end of the season, these points are added together and the member with the largest number of points
for each class wins a Championship Trophy for that class. The second highest placed member wins a
Reserve Champion Medal and Rosette. These trophies get presented to the winners at our Presentation
Evening which takes place in October/November time.
Please make entries clear by using the same name throughout for the horse/pony (and the
rider)

RING ONE – 9.30AM START
CLASS 1 –THE PETER PAN STAKES
Open to any horse/pony/rider/combination not to have been placed 1st in any DDRC 70cm (2’3”) class in
the prior calendar year. If you compete in this class you may compete in classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 in Ring 2.
(CTR Rule - The competition is open to all horses/ponies who have not won any notional money BS on the
date of the show at which they qualified. Any winnings subsequent to qualifying will not be taken into
account).
Jumps not to exceed 70cm (2’3”) in the first round. Judged under table A7.
Will be split if numbers exceed 15, into the following sections:
a)Horses
b)Ponies
CLASS 2 – NOVICE JUMPING
Open to any horse/ponyrider/combination not to have been placed 1st in any DDRC 80cm (2 ft 6”) class in
the prior calendar year. Horse/pony/rider not to have competed in any class in Ring 2 (with exception
to Classes 9, 11 & 12).
(CTR Rule - This competition is open to all horses/ponies who have not won more than £50 notional BS on
the date of the show at which they qualified. Any winnings subsequent to qualifying will not be taken into

CLASS 8 – ADULTS BEGINNERS JUMPING
Horse/pony/ rider/combination not to have competed in any class in Ring 1. Riders not to be lead.
Jumps approx 50cm (1’6”) in the first round. Jump off against the clock. For competitors aged 18 and over.
CLASS 9 –PAIRS
Open to any horse/pony/ rider/combination.
Jumps approx 60cm - 70cm (2’0” to 2’3”) Class will be run as a handicap. This class will split into Ring 1
and Ring 2 entrants if entries exceed 15. Only enter Ring 2 Section if both riders are from Ring 2. All other
pairs should be in the Ring 1 Section.
CLASS 10 – DACORUM CHALLENGE CUP
Horse/pony/rider/combination may only have competed in classes 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Ring 2 or in class
1 in Ring 1.
Jumps approx. 60cm – 70cm (2’0” to 2’3”) in the first round
Will be split into the following age groups: a) 12 years and under b) 13 years and over
This class will be judged under either Table A7 or two phase ruling depending on the number of entries.
CLASS 11 – NEED FOR SPEED
Open to any horse/pony/ rider/combination.
Jumps approx 60cm - 70cm (2’0” to 2’3”). This will be over a shortened course of 6 fences. Teams must
consist of 4 members, with the top three times to count. The team of 4 with the quickest aggregate time will
be the winners. Any jumping faults will be incurred as faults not time penalties.
Team to assemble in changeover area; when one rider returns, the next one sets off. No baton will be
passed. Entries on the day at the secretaries caravan £20.00 per team. One team per entry form.

Once the rope on the showing rings has been fastened, there is STRICTLY no
admittance to the ring by any competitors.
CLASS 12 –YOUNG STOCK (IN HAND)
Photocopy of Passport to be presented on request. Any horse/pony: 1,2 or 3 year old.
If there are sufficient entries the class will be split into:

CLASS 24 – BLEMISHES DON’T COUNT (RIDDEN)
Open to horses or ponies of any age. The animal must be sound and in good condition. Lead rein accepted
in this class.
CLASS 25A – NOVICE RIDDEN
A walk and trot showing class for novice horses and ponies. All types and sizes. For novice horses and
ponies in their first season who have never won a showing class before the date of qualification. This does
not include lead reins.
CLASS 25B – NOVICE RIDER
A walk and trot showing class for novice riders. All types and sizes, ages. For novice riders who have not
been placed 1st or 2nd in a showing class before 01.01.2016. This does not include lead reins.
CLASS 26 – RIDING HORSE/PONY (RIDDEN)
Open to any horse/pony. Only HORSE Section are qualifiers for CTR Championship – Horses must be
148cm (14.2hh) or above for this section. For Sunshine Tour horses & ponies qualify.
CLASS 27 – RIDDEN HUNTER
Open to horses or ponies of any age of Hunter Type. The animal must be sound and in good condition. For
CTR Qualifiers – Horses must be 153cm (15hh) or above.
CLASS 28A – FIRST PONY (LEAD REIN) Sponsored in Memory of Yvonne Denchfield
Open to any pony 4 years old and over and not exceeding 13.2hh. Must be in snaffle bridle.
Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before January 1st 2016. A rosette will be presented to each
competitor in this class. If competitors are entering classes 26A and 26B then they must compete hors
concours in Class 26B.
(CTR Rule – This is open for ponies not exceeding 122cm (12hh). Open to mares and geldings 4 years and
over. Children must be 3 years or older but not to have reached their 9th birthday on 1st Jan 2016)

CLASS 28B – FIRST PONY (RIDDEN) Sponsored in Memory of Yvonne Denchfield
Open to any pony 4 years old and over and not exceeding 13.2hh. Must be in snaffle bridle.
Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before January 1st 2016. A rosette will be presented to each
competitor in this class. If competitors are entering classes 26A and 26B then they must compete hors
concours in Class 26B.

condition. Andalusians, Luzitanos, Lippizaners, Quarter Horses, Saddlbreds, Morgans,Paints, Paso Finos,
Knabstruppers, Haflingers, Mustangs, Appaloosas (any other foreign breed that are not warmblood or
British breeds, British Natives or ARABS.

Dressage entry will be online only and close on the Wednesday before the show date. Late

Riding Jackets, jodhpurs and Riding Boots must be worn by all mounted competitors. Un-mounted
competitors should be correctly dressed for showing. Trainers are not allowed.
In the case of extreme hot weather, riding jackets may be forfeited but a white long sleeved shirt/blouse
must be worn. This is at the judge’s discretion.
Riding hats with chinstraps must be worn by all persons when mounted on any horse/pony on any part
of the showground. Hats must be according to current standards brought in on 1st January 2016. Failure
to comply will result in disqualification from the competition if already competed, or if not already
competed, you will not be able to compete until you have found a hat which complies to the standard.
It is the rider/handler’s responsibility to ensure their horse/pony is tacked up correctly. Random spot
checks may be carried out.
Chinstraps must be fastened at all times. Failure to do so will result in automatic elimination.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry to any class or entry to the showground without
stating a reason
No entries will be accepted unless accompanied by the correct fee and all cheques must have the name
and address of the signatory on the reverse of the cheque or they will not be accepted.
The organisers reserve the right to request a height certificate of any animal and proof of age of riders
where there is an entry requirement We also reserve the right to measure any horse/pony Please note
that for veterans and youngstock a copy of a passport must be available on request.
Objections must be made within 30 minutes of the incident and accompanied by a deposit of £20.00
which will be forfeited if the objection is overruled
The organisers will not accept any responsibility or liability for loss, damage or illness to any property,
person or animal however caused
Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times on any part of the showground.
No horse or pony under the age of 4 years may be ridden on the showground
No galloping or cantering on the showground is allowed except as required by a judge or in the practice
areas.
Improper use of whips or spurs at any time on the showground will result in elimination. The wearing
of Spurs is NOT allowed in Ring 2.
A riders age will taken as from January 1st 2016
Club membership runs from January 1st - December 31st.
Points will only be awarded from the date of MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL or in the case of a new
member, the DATE OF JOINING the club.
Members must attend a minimum of 2 shows during the year to qualify for the DDRC points system.
The ruling of any judge or official is final and any person found arguing will be asked to leave the
showground
Any person found mistreating any animal or using bad language will be asked to leave the showground
Class trophies will only be awarded to fully paid up members who come first in each class.
A 'Best Members' rosette will be awarded to the highest placed fully paid up member
The organisers reserve the right to either alter or cancel any class and to amalgamate any class where
there are insufficient entries
Any member winning the overall BEGINNERS or NOVICE jumping championship in rings 1 or 2 will
not be eligible to enter the Horse/Pony that won the championship in that class again. Any rider
discovered to have done this will have their points for the end of season trophies deducted.
Points are accumulated on rider/horse or pony and handler/horse or pony and not on a membership basis.
Once the rope on the showing rings has been fastened, there is STRICTLY no admittance to the ring by
any competitors.
A horse or pony may now jump hors concours immediately after its competitive round and not wait until
the end of the class. The horse/pony who has jumped hors concours will remain hors concours in that
ring for the rest of the day.
Members must have their DDRC membership cards with them in the ring before they can be awarded a
trophy. If the card is not presented in the ring when requested, the trophy will not be presented.
CTR CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER RULES
Showjumping
1. Riders must buy their membership numbers from C&T Rider prior to the competition at a
cost of £20 when purchased on line by visiting
www.chilternrider.co.uk/Membership/showmembers.htm
2. Their numbers will be issued automatically so there is no need to wait for our office to issue
a number. Alternatively riders can call the office and order their number over the phone by
calling 01582 748982 at a cost of £23. Riders cannot qualify if they do not have a
membership number.
3. Riders cannot qualify unless they have a valid membership number for the 2016 season with
the prefix SSJ16.
4. CTR Membership numbers must be entered on the DDRC membership form when entering.
5. First, Second and Third placed horses and ponies qualify in each class. The qualification
can pass down the line as far as 5th place
6. Horses & Ponies must go clear in the first round to qualify.
7. NEW FOR 2016 - As of this season, CTR show jumping members will be issued with a
qualification card which they must get signed by the show secretary on the day of the show
when they qualify.
8. Please note: Horse/pony combinations cannot enter more than two classes and they must be
consecutive i.e. mini and novice, novice and small open, small open and open except for the
equestrian.co.uk jump challenge which can be entered as a third class.
Showing
1. Riders must be a member of Chiltern & Thames Rider. Riders must have obtained a
membership number from Chiltern & Thames Rider BEFORE entering a qualifier. If they
do not have a membership number they cannot qualify.

CTR DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER
RULES
Dressage
CT Rider Summer Dressage Membership is required. Riders must be Chiltern & Thames Rider Members for
the 2016 Summer season before competing in a qualifying class.
Members should enter their membership number on the entry form at qualifying shows before competing in
the class. Membership costs £20 online and £24 over the phone and lasts for the winter dressage season. (For
qualifying shows between 19 th October 2015 and 23rd March 2016. Riders can buy their membership on
line by visiting http://www.chilternrider.co.uk or by phone on 01582 748983.
Classes are as follows:
INTRO Neither horse nor rider to have competed BD Affiliated Dressage by the date of the championships
as a full competing, music, eventers BD, RC BD, PC BD, Team Quest, My Quest or Veteran BD member.
They must not have won a prelim class before the date of qualification. Qualifying classes can be BD Intro
A or B. The best Junior also qualifies as long as 58% is achieved (14 years and under by the date of the

The Juniors will be combined from section a) and b) above at the finals to make their own class. Equine and
rider combinations who have been placed in the top three in the Open section at previous CTR
championships, must continue to compete in the open section.
NOVICE OPEN -. For horses and riders who have competed BD combined or separately as a full competing,
music, eventers BD, RC BD, PC BD, Team Quest, My Quest or Veteran BD member. The horse may have
gained 50 points BD at novice level and/or 15 points at elementary level. The best Junior also qualifies as
long as 58% is achieved. (14 years and under by the date of the championships). Horses/ponies of any height.
Please note: Horse and Rider combinations are not allowed to enter both the Restricted and Open sections
at the final.
Restrictions apply to the date of the final, not the date of qualification. If a horse and rider qualifies at a lower
level and then competes out of the class restrictions, they must enter a class that they are eligible for at the
final.
Veteran horses 20 years and over on 10th April 2016 who have BD points at a higher level than novice but
are deemed no longer suitable to perform at elementary and medium level, may apply to the show director,
[email protected] to ask for special permission to compete in Prelim and Novice non-restricted
classes.
Who Qualifies? 1st and 2nd place in each section of each class qualifies. At least 58% must be achieved by
all qualifiers. If the winner and second placed have already qualified, the qualification goes down the line to
the next best tests but those tests must be at least 58%. If there are most than 10 entries in the class, 1st
2nd and 3rd qualify. *The Best Junior also qualifies but the junior must achieve 58%
NEW for 2015/16 – MEMBERS WILL BE ISSUED WITH A MEMBERSHIP CARD WHICH THEY
MUST GET SIGNED ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW BY THE SECRETARY OF THE QUALIFYING
SHOW, IF THEY QUALIFY. Once qualified, riders can enter on line. The signed qualification card must
be scanned and/or photographed and emailed to [email protected] at the time of entering on line so
that we can verify the qualification to the entry.
Please note: It is the horse and rider combination that qualifies. No horse or rider substitutions will be
allowed at the final. Horses and ponies may be ridden by two riders on the day but both riders must be CTR
members and only consecutive classes may be entered e.g. prelim and novice. No horse may enter more than
three classes at the championships.
THINK PINK QUALIFICATION
Youngstock
Qualifications are given to the highest placed two, not to have already qualified in the top six.
Qualification Cards will be provided to qualifying competitors.
Should there be more than 5 yearlings entered in the youngstock class, they will be split at
the Finals.
Young Handler under 16
Qualifications are given to the highest placed two, not to have already qualified in the top six.

Diamond Shows – 22nd May & 19th June 2015
The winner from every in hand and ridden showing class at the shows held on 22nd May &
19th June 2016 qualify for the Think Pink Diamond Finals
The finals are to take place on the 3rd September 2016 at Rosewood Stud Cambridge. The
final classes will be split. The top ten from each final will go through to the evening
performance for placing, Evening turnout encouraged. All finalists to receive a rosette. Think

also running Open classes for youngsters ...Over & Under 14.2hh, Fillies, Colts & Geldings In hand
Eqitation & a Concorse d Elegance. With £1,000 in prize money up for grabs this is the event for
youngsters Not To Be Missed.

SHOWJUMPING QUALIFIER RULES
Mini Tour Championships up to 40cm
Mini Tour Championships are for very novice/inexperienced riders i.e. beginners to jumping. Guideline: Riders
who are ‘competent’ at 60cm or above should enter the Small Tour.
All Mini Tour classes (up to 40cm Classes): In the past 3 years (from 30th September 2016) horses/ponies not
to have won any prize money or points in BS, not to have earned any BE points or foundation points;
Combination not to have won in any jumping class at 60cm or above. Riders not to have competed in BS
competitions or any BE events or in any Pony Club Area Novice or Championship show jumping or eventing.
Small Tour Novice Championships 50cm, 60cm, 65cm & 70cm
In the past 3 years from 30th September 2016, horses/ponies not to have won any prize money or points in BS,
not to have earned any BE points or foundation points. Combination not to have competed in BS competitions or
any BE events, except on a day ticket or at BS Club; not to have competed in Pony Club or Riding Club Area
Intermediate Championship level show jumping or eventing.
Grand Tour Intermediate Championship
Intermediate 75cm & 80cm Classes Horses/ponies – not to have won a total of 49 points or £49 (notional)
prize money in BS, not to have earned any BE points or more than 49 BE Foundation points (or none within the
past 3 years from 30th September 2016). Combination not to have competed in BS classes at 1m or above; not to
have competed at BE 100 or Pony Club Area Intermediate Eventing or Show Jumping or above.
Small Open 85cm & 90cm Classes: Horses/ponies – not to have won 99 points or £99 (notional) prize money
or points in BS or more, not to have earned 10 BE points or 99 BE foundation points (or none within the past 3
years from 30th September 2016). Combination not to have competed in BS classes at 1.10m or above; not to
have competed at BE Novice or Pony Club Open Eventing or Show Jumping or above.
Restrictions
Please note that the same horse/rider combination cannot compete in both Small Tour and Grand
Tour classes in the same discipline or more than 4 levels within show jumping. You can compete in more than
one discipline in different Tours. (i.e. Small Tour dressage and Grand Tour Show Jumping).
The Sunshine Tour is exclusively for unaffiliated and amateur riders, competing with unaffiliated horses and
ponies. In some cases you can have dabbled in or lightly competed in affiliated competitions, but ‘professional’
riders are excluded
Over qualified?
If you find that you are overqualified for the class that you qualified in, either because of restrictions or because
you are now competing at a higher level you are still able to take part in the championship as you can voluntarily
upgrade to a higher level class. E.g. in show jumping if you qualify at 80cm you could voluntarily upgrade to
85cm. N.B. If you upgrade from a Small Tour class to Grand Tour then all your qualifications will be rolled over
to Grand Tour.
N.B. Horses/ponies that have some points/money/wins, but not earned any within the last 5 years might be eligible
to compete. Contact Sunshine Tour HQ for clarification.

The 2016 Show Jumping Championships are being held on 16, 17 & 18 September at the All England
Showground, Hickstead.
Friday is for warm up classes and Saturday and Sunday are full of championship classes, as well as fun and
open classes on Sunday.

SHOWING QUALIFIER RULES
All Sunshine Tour Showing Championships are for unaffiliated/ novice showing exhibitors and so should not be
professionally produced/trained for the show ring i.e. kept in training or livery with a professional / affiliated
showing producer during the current year. DIY livery at a professional yard is acceptable but the horse/pony must
not be currently ridden or trained by a professional producer during the current year.
Horses/riders that have exceeded the restrictions, but not within the previous 3 years from 30th September 2016
might be eligible to compete; this rule may not apply to RIHS, HOYS and Olympia restrictions – see notes below for
clarification.
You CAN compete in BOTH Small & Grand Tour Showing if you fit the relevant restrictions.
Small Tour

DRESSAGE QUALIFIER RULES
This championship is for unaffiliated and amateur riders with unaffiliated and novice horses/ponies.
The spirit of this competition as an amateur & unaffiliated championship is very important to us as organisers,
to our sponsors and to our competitors, so we request that all participants respect the spirit of restrictions, not
necessarily just the letter of the law. If you find that you are overqualified for the class that you qualified in, you
can voluntarily upgrade to a higher level class. E.g. in show jumping if you qualify in 75cm then you could
upgrade to 85cm. Horses/riders that have more than the allowed points or placings, but not earned in the
previous 3 years (from 30th September 2016) are eligible to compete. Contact HQ for clarification.
You CAN compete across Tours if you fit the relevant restrictions
Horse/rider combinations can compete in up to 2 dressage championship levels, which must be consecutive; e.g.
If you qualify for Intro, Prelim & Novice you can compete in Prelim and Novice but not Intro and Novice (you
can compete in more than 2 championship classes).
All points/winnings restrictions refer to the previous 3 years from 30th September 2016 so if horse/rider is over
qualified provided NONE of the points/wins have occurred within the past 3 years then you could are eligible –
