LIV 4 CHANGE EXISTS TO HELP YOUNG PEOPLE JOURNEY THEIR WALK
WITH CHRIST BY REVEALING AND RESTORING IDENTITY, INTENTIONAL
DISCIPLESHIP, ACTIVE INTERNSHIP WORK, WHILST GIVING THE
OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE THE VISION AND COMMUNITY OF LIV VILLAGE.
Each young person on the programme will take part in 3 months of discipleship and serving
village life, followed by 3 months of an internship and work experience in a selected area.
LIV 4 change will do this through teaching, guided discovery, pastoral counselling and intern
mentors. We believe that this is a fresh expression of how young people can thrive, by
starting to see their potential in themselves serving others, and being given a platform to be
that very change in both themselves and lives around them. LIV 4 Change demonstrates the
‘upside-down’ Kingdom of God, where by in giving, His children receive.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
At LIV 4 Change everyone will experience an authentic culture, living Biblical principles and
living a contagious lifestyle of following Jesus! There is teaching and guidance into a healthy
spirituality, work ethic, lifestyle (eating habits and exercise) and appreciation of those around
them from different cultures. The program will have teachers for Biblical input, a pastoral
team and intern mentors. For the first 3 months, focus will solely be on self-development
and discovery whilst serving on the village. In months 4-6 everyone will choose one area in
village life to gain valuable life and work experience. Everyone will be overseen by a mentor,
set targets with them and grow into a role.
TEACHING
For the first 3 months teaching will be focused
on personal development, including identity,
being the church (catching the LIV DNA) and
living a healthy lifestyle. Part of the teaching
will also be to learn Zulu, which will come in
very useful. After this, there will be a shift in
focus towards living your potential, walking in
fullness and what it means to really love!
Teachers will not only be available for
teaching material but also for one on one/
group time to go deeper and engage in further
conversation.
INTERNSHIP
Mentors will play a role for professional
development, giving guidance and sharing
experience working at LIV. They will help set
goals and targets, as well as give honest,
constructive feedback.
AREA’S TO SERVE (MONTHS 4-6)
• Early childhood development centre
• Education (Primary/Secondary School)
TIME OFF AND AWAY
We will endeavour to make sure that each
individual is able to have an affective time of
rest and break from the intensity of village
life. We understand that everyone responds to
challenges and coping with them differently
so we will treat everyone as an individual and
give them the opportunity to go ‘at their pace.’
The following list are potential opportunities
for small day trips, which we would aim to
provide at least once per month:
• Local church
• Beach
• Surfing
• Ushaka Marine World
• Drakensburg Mountains
• Fishing
• Rugby
Larger and more costly trips, such as Hiking,
Canopy tour and Game reserve would occur
every 2 months.
• Sport
• Social Services
• Maintenance
• Agriculture
• Marketing
• Health Care
• Music
• Factory/retail
