Mary chooses not to lounge around on beachs locally. Last year she went to Cambodia, this year walked the Kokoda trail . Why does she go? Mary said the reall question should be “why not”. Kokoda trail was first used in 1890 for gold exploration 2001 70 walkers, in 2009 had grown to 4000 walking 6 died on track walking so far. Oldest walker 83. Record time is 16 hours, however it took her 9 days. Trail is 96 km long and very step up and donw. You need good preparation and self discipline.
