Below are descriptions of the Girl Scout Badge Programs offered at
Brookgreen Gardens and a Registration Form that must be completed and
returned to confirm your reservation.
Earth Connections Badge Workshop at Brookgreen Gardens
Girls will dig in the dirt, identify different types of plants, learn about trees, and “key out” trees in
Brookgreen Gardens. They will also tour the Plantation and Native Animals Zoo while discussing its
purpose. They will learn about ways animals adapt and native plants used by Native Americans.
Who: Girl Scout Juniors
When: Schedule directly with Brookgreen Gardens
Where: Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet
Fee: Girl: $7.00
Adult: One adult free per 10 girls, additional adults $16.00/$12.00

Capacity: 25 girls with adults according to Safety-Wise ratio
Additional Notes: Bring a sack lunch and a drink. There are 20 minutes scheduled for lunch.
Departure time will be at completion of the program. **There is a limit of 3 additional adults per
program at $16.00. Any additional adults needed for transportation will not be able to participate in
the program and must pay $12.00 for admission.
Wildlife Badge Workshop at Brookgreen Gardens
Girls will examine different types of bird beaks as well as see birds in action in the Cypress Aviary.
They will learn identifying characteristics of some of the animals there as well as discussing
endangered animals.

Brownie Plants Try-It Workshop at Brookgreen Gardens
Girls will plant seeds to take home and watch grow. They will also do rubbings of trees and leaves
on the grounds of Brookgreen Gardens. Each girl will need to bring ½ an egg carton with a lid and a
pint jar with a lid. They will also need to bring a box or sturdy bag to carry these after the program.

Fees: The minimum number of adults required under “Safety Wise Standards” will be admitted free of
charge. Adults over the required number will be considered Extra Adults and will be charged admission
and program fees. Extra Adults will be limited to 3 per day. If mode of transportation requires adults
over the three Extra Adults permitted per day, those adults will pay the regular admission of $12 and may tour
Brookgreen until time for departure, but will not be permitted to participate in the Scout Badge Program.
