Setting Goals and Strategies for an SU Mission SUFM/Theos Team Goals Mission Date Directors SU has established mission goals that reflect Biblical Mission Principles; they are gathered around three areas: Mission, Team, Program. The leadership from your mission is invited to prepare specific strategies for achieving these goals for your team in your context. Mission: SU Mission Goal: We join in God’s mission to help children, families and young people come to life in the Lord Jesus, grow in Christian maturity and be part of a church. We do this in obedience to Christ, in the power of his Spirit and in partnership with churches. Things to consider when contextualizing this goal for your context: o The people we are connecting with: age, culture, where they come from o The people we are not connecting with well o How well resourced our team is in opening the bible with participants, and inviting them to come to life in the Lord Jesus o The churches we are partnering with: where the participants come from in the local community where our team members are being sent from o How we will safely follow up participants Strategies to achieve this goal: Team: SU Team Goal: Our team aims to develop missional leaders who are: o competent, confident and compassionate disciples of Jesus o reflecting the reality of God’s Kingdom in our community life o engaged in sharing God’s good news in word and deed with the people we meet Things to consider when contextualizing this goal for our context: o How our team members will be equipped for mission o How we can create a context where team members are living as a missional Christian communing and growing in their faith o How our team members’ gifts are being utilized, stretched and grown o How many team members we need to fulfil our mission goals Strategies to achieve this goal: Mavis Payne, 2013 Program: SU Program Goal: We share God’s good news through a holiday program which: o connects with people where they are through quality, engaging, safe events o demonstrates God’s love through caring and honouring relationships o opens the bible and invites people to come to life in the Lord Jesus in a way that is accessible and appropriate for them.
