Lesson 1: Getting Acquainted

Lesson 1: Getting Acquainted
Name Games/ Getting to Know You
Name Game
-We will number off 1 and two in order to form two smaller
circles today.
-Circle up with our name handles for ourselves. Today, think
of a handle that starts with the first sound of your name
(ex. Chipper Charon).
-We will go around the circle like yesterday.
-Next, we will throw the ball, but it can’t bounce today ;)
Warp Speed
-You’ll toss the ball to someone calling out their handle
before you throw it.
-After you’ve had a turn, place your arms behind your back so
everyone knows you’ve gone.
- If the ball is dropped, everyone starts over again.
- Whichever group can go the fastest and correctly name
everyone in the group will get to choose a prize. I will
bring it to school tomorrow.
Face-To-Face
- We will get into two rows facing each other.
- You’ll shake hands with the person across from you and
introduce yourself to them.
- I will then choose a question for the two of you to
discuss amongst each other.
- When time is up, I’ll have you move one spot to the right
and I will ask another question.
Four Corners
-In your mind, choose someone in class that you feel you
don’t have much in common with, but don’t say who that person
is.
-I will use the four corners of the room for categories. I’ll
let you know which corner stands for which option. Go to the
corner of your choice.
Journal Questions
- We will Journal every day, but I won’t read anything that
you don’t want me to read. I will respect your privacy as
long as you respectfully participate in the activity.
- If you don’t want me to read it, simply put “Do Not Read”
at the top of the entry.
- Journals only have to be one paragraph. You may choose to
write longer if you wish.
- When we’re Journaling, the room needs to be silent and
phones need to be put away.
Today’s Journal Questions
1.What are the leadership qualities you believe you already
possess?
2.How do you plan to further develop these abilities?
3.What are some leadership qualities you may be lacking? We
all have room for improvement.
Please write one paragraph per question. Remember, this is
what you think, so there is no right or wrong answer today.
