Let the Games Begin…..
June 20-June 24 “Olympic Heroes”
How will you make your mark? This week will focus on fun activities and games around record breaking and milestones. While Nadia had the
first Olympic “Perfect 10” and Phelps has the most career medals, there is always room for your special talent to shine through. Join us as we
attempt to break into the world record book ourselves, and make your mark on history!
June 27-July 1 “Mount Olympus”
Step back in time and visit Mount Olympus with us. We will play Zeus on the Loose, the Lightening Thief and Clash of the Titans. Campers will
have opportunities to create their own camp flag, and make laurel leaf crowns for all the Olympic winners. The week will culminate with a hike
up our own Mount Olympus (Mount Philo) to take in the breathtaking views and complete a scavenger hunt along the way.
July 5-July 8 “Amazing Amazon”
Ride down the Amazon with us as we explore the landscape and wildlife of Brazil. We will turn the play space into a canopy covered rainforest
with camper crafts such as bubble wrap snakes and colorful toilet paper toucans. Each camper will make their own terrarium from a plastic
bottle. Our special performance of the week will be Jungle Jim, who will entertain us with wacky comedy and extreme balloon animals. You
won’t want to miss out on this week of “Amazing Amazon” fun.
July 11-July 15 “Winter Games”
What could be better than winter in the summer? Join us for this week of winter fun and games as we try our hand at mock luge races, curling
competitions, snowball fights and more. There will be snowman relays, gingerbread house creations and ice cube art. For an added special
treat we will be taking a field trip to Cairns Arena for ice skating and hot cocoa. Come celebrate a week of “Winter Games” with us!
July 18-22 “Carnival Craze”
In Rio de Janeiro tradition, we will celebrate a week of bright colors and great music as we participate in the annual “Cardboard Box Parade” on
Church Street. Campers will wear their camp T-shirt and create costumes that celebrate this year’s theme “On Your Mark, Get Set….READ!”.
Campers will get to show off special performances of dance, song and magic that they have practiced throughout the week at our culminating
talent show. Dance your way through our week of “Carnival Craze”.
July 25-29 “Nautical Nonsense”
Dive into this week of water fun! We will incorporate land versions of Olympic aquatic games such as water polo and synchronized swimming
as well as play the traditional slip and slides, drip, drip drop and the always popular slip and slide. Our weekly trip to Red Rocks Beach will be
highlighted with beach volleyball, sandcastle competitions and water basketball. Come splish-splash your way to a fun week with as we
celebrate “Nautical Nonsense”.
Aug 1-Aug 5 “Wild World of Sports”
Explore the world of team sports, practicing the known and learning the unknown. We will have tournaments for badminton, handball, and
basketball. Along with these, we will have opportunities to participate in Olympic activities such as archery, taekwondo and our own camp
pentathlon. This week will include the ever popular trip to the Lake Monsters Game- a fun camp transition. Let us “take you out to the ball
game” during this week of “Wild World of Sports”.
Aug 8-Aug 12 “Go for the Gold!”
Take your mark, get set- GO FOR THE GOLD. Finish up your summer with a bang we transform our camp into an Olympic Village. Campers will
be assigned countries and coaches and will compete daily in fun and festivals unique to their country. The final day will culminate in an all
camp Olympic competition. Campers will make banners for their country and parade into the games to show their team spirit. The Big Blue
Trunk will be leading “Insane Big Games” for all camp participation as teams compete for the coveted “Jr Rec Golden Bucket”. You won’t want
to miss your chance to “GO FOR THE GOLD!”
