Work
 Management Styles usually based on
– A power higherarchy and rules based
relationships
– A goals relationship bribed by incentives and
enforced by punishment
– This approach is based on core values
Gung Ho - A values based style
 Many different styles
– This one non-confrontational
– Based on bringing out the best in your team
– Problem of Graduate with a Diploma leading a work
force with experience.
 This approach can rapidly work with young
unseasoned engineers among seasoned operators but it demands that you truly make values a part of
your belief and relationship
Gung Ho Origins
 Was created by a young Native American MBA
in a middle management factory job
– Was based on the teachings about relationships from his
Grandfather
– Has a certain unusual flavor of Native American perspectives and
harmony with the land and each other
 Factory was a dump that was about to be closed within 5 years recognized in a White House
ceremony as a leading plant in the U.S.
