• Beletrina Academic Press, non-profit
institute in cooperation with 10 Slovenian
public libraries
• The aim of a project is to prepare
nationwide platform for delivering e-books
to public libraries for lending.

Selection of e-books
• not all ebook titles available for sale to the
public will also be available to libraries for
lending
• not yet arranged on embargo (window) period
• book selection depends on each publishers
decision
• emphasis on contemporary Slovenian fiction
• books in Minority languages will be presented in
the future

Licencing
• proposed model:
– up to 8 licences per title in testing period
– later libraries freely decide on number of licences
– basic collection of each title for every participating
library
• not clear on rights to transfer them to another
delivery platform and to continue to lend them
indefinitely?

Access
• all books will be available thru e-book lending
platform web portal Biblos.si
• login using COBISS/My Library service (primary
intended for loan, reservations and renewals of
library materials)
• Apps for Android, iOS and Windows mobile
devices (direct borrowing)
• platform assigned e-ink reading devices for user
lendings in public libraries (educational aspect)

• downloadable e-books in .epub and .pdf

User limitations
• limitation on loaning 4 titles simultaneously
• short-term loans for 7 or 14 days
• early return, ILL and prolong of borrowed
books are not possible yet
• Adobe DRM limited permission for using
DRM protected ebook on max. 5 reading
devices simultaneously

Pricing
• no additional fees for end users
• participating libraries are paying a set
price for use of system which includes
whole catalog with one licence/book
• additional copies must be bought or rented
• books that are free-of-charge in selling
devision of platform (bookstore) will be
available for libraries‘ use at minimal costs
