E-SAFETY POLICY
The Club follows ECB Safety Guidelines on Communication and Interactive Technologies.
Team Managers and Coaches sometimes use social media to inform young players aged 15 and above
about upcoming cricket events, in line with the club’s policy on the use of information including
emergency situations. Parental consent is required for young players to join the specific Facebook
group.
All members and guests of the Club will ensure:

That they take responsibility for their own use of communication and interactive technologies,
using them safely, responsibly and legally within the context of cricket

No communication device or service, including interactive communication services such as social
networking may be used to bring the club, its members or cricket into disrepute

No communication device or service, including interactive services such as social networking,
may be used for inappropriate behaviour online within the context of cricket including the

COLTS CRICKETERS PLAYING IN ADULT MATCHES
OD CUACO Cricket Club has a duty of care toward all young players who are representing the
Club. This duty of care extends to leagues that allow the participation of young players in
adult teams.
 The Club will not place a young player in a position that involves an unreasonable risk, taking into
account the circumstances of the match and the relative skills of the player.
 The Club will not create a situation that places members of the opposing side in a position whereby
they cannot play cricket as they would normally do against adult players.
 All young players who are under 18 must wear a helmet with a faceguard when batting and when
standing up to the stumps when keeping wicket. A young player acting as a runner must also wear
a helmet even if the player he is running for is not doing so.
 The umpires and the opposing captain will be notified of the age group of all players participating in
an adult match who are in the Under 19 age group or younger. This includes any young player
taking the field as a substitute fielder.
 Current ECB rules are:
̵
̵
̵
Under-12 age group players* should not play in open age competitive cricket (i.e. in
league matches).
Under-13 age group players* can play in open age competitive cricket (i.e. players
aged 12 and over) if considered by a qualified Level 2 coach or above that it is
appropriate for their development.
Under-13 players will need prior explicit written parental consent to play.
*Junior cricket age groups are set by the age of the player on the 31st August
preceding the season of play.
 The required consent forms can be obtained from Andrew Mew or the relevant Team Manager.
 Under-12 age group players may play in adult friendly games, if considered by a Level 2 coach that
it is appropriate for their development. Written parental consent is required.
 Under current ECB rules, players in the Under-11 age group are not permitted to play in any adult
matches.

CHANGING ROOM POLICY
This Changing Policy applies to adults and to young people (under the age of 18) sharing
changing and showering facilities at OD CUACO Cricket Club.
Many clubhouses and pavilions do not have separate changing facilities for young players.
We therefore follow ECB guidelines in this regard.
 Adults will not change or shower at the same time using the same facility as young players.
 During matches, adults will endeavour to change at separate times to young players e.g. when
padding up.
 Parental consent must be given if young players are to share changing facilities with adults. Parents
have the option to supervise their children whilst they are changing and the Club will make
reasonable efforts to arrange this. The relevant consent form can be obtained from Andrew Mew or
Gail Caddy.
 Mobile phones must not be used in changing rooms.
Please note that young players uncomfortable with changing or showering with adults are under no
obligation to do so.

Code of Conduct 2013
The Spirit of Cricket
Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its
laws but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to the
game itself. The major responsibility for ensuring the spirit of fair play rests with the captains.
1. There are two laws which place the responsibility for the team’s conduct firmly on the captain.
Responsibility of captains
The captains are responsible at all times for ensuring that play is conducted within the Spirit of the
Game as well as the Laws.
Player’s conduct
In the event of a player failing to comply with instructions by an umpire, or showing dissent, or generally
behaving in a manner which might bring the game into disrepute, the umpire concerned shall in the first
place report the matter to the other umpire and to the player’s captain, and instruct the latter to take
action.
2. Fair and unfair play
According to the Laws the umpires are the sole judges of fair and unfair play.
The umpires may intervene at any time and it is the responsibility of the captain to take action
where required.
3. The umpires are authorised to intervene in cases of:
Time wasting
Damaging the pitch
Dangerous or unfair bowling
Tampering with the ball
Any other action that they consider to be unfair.

North Kent Junior League
Code of Conduct
4. The Spirit of the Game involves RESPECT for:
Your opponents
Your own captain and team
The role of the umpires
The game’s traditional values
5. It is against the Spirit of the
Game:
To dispute an umpire’s decision by word, action or gesture
To direct abusive language towards an opponent or umpire
To indulge in cheating or any sharp practice, for instance:
a.) To appeal knowing that the batsman is not out.
b.) To advance towards an umpire in an aggressive manner when appealing
c.) To seek to distract an opponent either verbally or by harassment with persistent clapping or
unnecessary noise under the guise of enthusiasm and motivation of one’s own side.
6. Violence
There is no place for any act of violence on the field of play.
7. Players
Captains and umpires together set the tone for the conduct of a cricket match. Every player
is expected to make an important contribution to this.
