Education Research Centres
CeDARE and CRADLE will foster, lead & conduct high
quality education research with students, staff, partners and
stakeholders
Key Objectives:
• develop relevant funded inter-disciplinary & disciplinary
research projects
• nurture research clusters aligned to REF2020 strategy
• raise volume, prestige & quality of outputs for REF 2020
• support pedagogic research across the University
• support and encourage practitioner research

1. PCE Readers & Writers in Lifelong Learning
Leaders: Dr Matt O’Leary & Dr Rob Smith
Supports research and writing connected to lifelong education via a
strong culture of collaborative writing and in scaffolding staff to
develop their expertise through small-scale educational research.
Cluster members are interested in theory and sociological
perspectives on educational issues. Collaborative writing activities
also extend outside the Institute to include wider FE practitioners and
other members of the PCE partnership.
