Responsible for the provision of advice to all
team members on pest infestation and other
relevant duties ie Pigeon proofing.

the safe use of all rodenticides insecticides, live
animal traps, breakback traps demonstrating
best practice and safe use in line with the
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
Regulations 1999 and the Wildlife and
Countryside Act 1981 in respect of humane
dispatch of live animals and birds.

The post-holder will manage the work of a team
of approximately 15 staff.

Will be responsible for his/her team ensuring
best practice and best approach to a variety of
situations including the use of appropriate
rodenticide and insecticide in sometimes
extremely sensitive situations (for example bed
bug infestation in a residential home).

The postholder will be responsible for ensuring
that his/her team will use all insecticides and
rodenticides safely in accordance with the
control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 and the
control of Substances Hazardous to health
Regulations 1999.

developments and changing practices within the
Pest Control industry.

Maintain proper records of inspections,
complaints safety data sheets and other
relevant records as required by the Health and
Safety at Work Act 1974 and regulations and
codes of Practice made thereunder.

sections “Safe Working Practices” document
and report any incident affecting a breach of
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to senior
management.

Prepare risk assessments, method statements
in line with safe working practices for work of
more complex nature and ensure compliance

 Under the guidance of the manager, the
postholder will be responsible co-ordinating the
control of pest infestations. They will ensure
that the work is undertaken in accordance with
the statutory functions of the Prevention and
Damage by Pest Act 1949, The Wildlife and
Countryside Act 1981, the Environmental
Protection Act 1990 and associated
Regulations and Codes of Practices.
