Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) Ministry of the Economy Industry Tip ‘Rig #’ when Editing or Reporting Subsequent Drilling Activity Date August 4, 2016 August 5, 2016 Module/Application/Functionality Notes Well and Facility Infrastructure Initial Release Module: Drilling and Completion Well and Facility Infrastructure A new issue has emerged with the Module: Drilling and Completion ‘Rig #’ functionality. Please see content in red for more details. Issues have emerged with the ‘Rig #’ functionality that prevents industry from editing or entering subsequent drilling activity data into IRIS. Note: These issues impact users that are entering net new immediate drilling activity and those that are editing or submitting detail for an existing drilling activity record in IRIS. Description of Scenarios As part of IRIS Release 5.3, ‘Rig #’ was introduced as a mandatory field to the drilling activity tab, part of the ‘Drilling and Completion’ reporting functionality (Infrastructure>Search/Submit>Immediate Reporting>Drilling and Completion). Net new drilling activity reports: Industry must enter a minimum of three characters for the ‘Rig #’ (for example, instead of ‘1’ they must enter ‘001’). Although IRIS will accept a number of less than three characters when the initial data is entered, when industry goes back to edit or add subsequent drilling activity, they will encounter the issue where IRIS won’t allow them to save their record because IRIS is looking for a valid ‘Rig #’. However, due to an issue in IRIS, the user is unable to enter the ‘Rig #’ or ‘N/A’; the field is greyed-out, indicating the user can’t enter information. Entering subsequent drilling information: When a user goes into IRIS to edit the data or to report subsequent drilling information (for example data required within 7-days, 30-days or 90 days of drilling activity), IRIS requires the ‘Rig #’ before the user can save the record. However, due to an issue in IRIS, the user is unable to enter the ‘Rig #’ or ‘N/A’; the field is greyed-out, indicating the user can’t enter information. As a result, the user receives this error and the record can’t be saved. Page 1 of 2 Action Required and Workaround If you’re attempting to edit or provide subsequent drilling activity information and encounter either of the scenarios described above, contact Petroleum and Natural Gas Support at 1-855-219-9373 or [email protected]. Ministry of the Economy employees can add the rig information on the industry user’s behalf. In the meantime, ECON is investigating the issue and will notify industry in the Alerts and Notifications section of www.saskatchewan.ca/IRIS when the issue has been resolved.
