(Winthrop-King Center, Rome, GA) – A second
overtime game in 2011 for the Georgia Northwestern
Lady Bobcats saw them head into the extra period 62all with West Georgia Tech Thursday night.
Lady Golden Knight Jasmine Grant only scored eight
on the game, but it was the four-of-four shooting from
the free-throw line in OT which helped give the road
team the win, 72-71.
“Sophomore Jessica Williams forces her way into the lane Thursday night for
two of her 12 points in the NJCAA Region XVII match-up with West Georgia
Tech.”
Freshman Lady Bobcat Joy Hoskins (Rome) led
Georgia Northwestern with 17 points. Sophomore Mia
Morrow (Rome) followed up with 14 in the home loss. Four late trips to the freethrow line late in regulation all came up empty as the Lady Cats went 0-4 from
the charity stripe in the final minutes. An Emily Cole (Adairsville) shot from the
corner would fall short for a chance at a Georgia Northwestern home win.
Georgia Northwestern (1-7, 1-1) is now off until January 5 when Women’s Head
Basketball Coach Jim Williams will take his team to Gallatin, Tennessee to take on
Volunteer State. NJCAA Region XVII play resumes two days later when the Lady
Cats travel to Carrollton, Georgia for a rematch with West Georgia Tech.
