Races will be in the sea and the typical sea temperature at that time of year is 16C approx.
Wetsuits may be worn and will race at the same time but in a separate category.
Registration is from 6.00 pm-8.00pm Friday 25th August for all races at Ouaisne car park.
Venue is planned for Ouaisne but this will be weather dependent and may be moved if required. An email will be
sent if the venue changes or please check by calling Ailie 07700 338512/Andy 07797 968019 .
Conditions
Age as at day of competition. Competitors in the Senior Age Group must be 18 or over on the first day of the meet.
Groups will be in five year bands, as high as necessary.
All entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and restrictions on numbers will be applied if required.
Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the promoter.
Anything not covered in the above will be at the discretion of the organisers.
Rules for Open Water
The Jersey Open Water Festival Organisers reserves the right, if weather and – or tidal conditions warrant, to move, cancel or
postpone the event or to amend the list of starters.
All competitors taking part do so at their own risk.
Competitors must report by the times given on entry form.
All competitors will be given a numbered coloured hat. These MUST be worn at all times during the competition with the number
at the front. Failure to abide by this may result in disqualification. Hats must be returned at the end of the race.
Other craft will act as guard boats. Any instructions given by canoeists or guard boats must be complied with immediately.
Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
Should a swimmer require assistance he/she should raise one arm above the water and call to the nearest boat/kayak.
Any swimmer exiting early must advise the course officials as soon as possible.
Swimmers should finish by touching the red and white boom or as informed at the pre swim briefing.
Swimmers competing in the 3km and 5km must be able to swim 800m in 20 mins
There is a time limit of 2hours 30minutes for all open water races any slower swimmers will be pulled out.
