I hope you have all had a relaxing half

Dear Parents/carers,
I hope you have all had a relaxing half-term. Sincere apologies to parents of children in the Reception
classes, Mrs. Tidbury’s and Miss Wightman’s classes for the disruption following the heating problems.
Thank you for your understanding, this was not a decision taken lightly.
 Thank you to all those parents who have named their child’s clothing. It makes finding the
owners much easier.
 School dinners are very popular; please encourage your child to try them.
 The school day finishes at 3:10 p.m. If you are going to be late picking up your child please inform
the office. We will always keep your child safe.
 Please check in your child’s reading bag for letters!
 Keep supporting your child with reading every day. Just ten minutes makes all the difference.
Internet Safety is of great concern to us as a school. It has been widely publicised about the dangers of
internet use and the safety of children.
 Several children have been distressed by films they have watched. Many of these have been
rated 12 and even 18. Please make sure your older children do not watch these films in front of
their younger siblings. I have spoken to several parents who were unaware this was happening,
thank you to those parents who have dealt with these disturbing disclosures.
 A child accessing the internet on your mobile phones is also a concern, especially if they are
playing games whereby they download apps that then have to be paid for! This is also happening
on PC’s and iPads.
 Some of the games including ‘Call of Duty, Black Ops’, ‘Grand Theft Auto’, and ‘Five Nights at
Freddy’s gallery’….are being played. These games are not appropriate for young children.
Please be vigilant when children ‘play round each other’s houses’ if there are older children. Please teach
your child/ren to use the internet safely, giving them reassurance it is ok to tell you if they are unhappy
about what they may have seen, or if they are not sure they should be playing certain games.
At the end of this term, March 24th, you will receive yours child’s annual report. We strongly advise you
to take the opportunity of discussing this report with your child’s teacher during the week beginning 27th
March at Parent/teacher interviews.
In the summer term you will receive a summary assessment report
Thank you for your support.
Sally Leung
