Remember Jesus Said

Homework
Dear Parents,
This week for homework we will continue with the daily spelling sheets (which
are returned each morning.) The children will use the enclosed papers.
I would also like the children to pay the money game once each night.
Please note the children should be reading for 10 minutes each night.
They should be reading a book from their plastic bag. Please remember to sign their
homework card each night as I check them each morning. We are currently working
on books # 29 A Real Frog and #30 The Egg Tree .
Please play the “Make 25 cents” game
and practice the first & last verse of
the Jesus Said poem.

Money Game
Supplies need:
one die (dice)
pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
A bank (piles of different coins) is set up in the middle of the players. The first
player rolls the die and takes that many cents (if the die read 2 take 2 cents). The
second player rolls die and takes that many cents. Players continue taking turns to roll
the die and to collect the money. Rolling a 0 means you lose that turn.
When a player has collected 5 pennies they trade with the bank for a nickel.
When they have collected two nickels they trade with the bank for a dime. They trade
again when they have collected 25 cents.
The first player to collect 2 quarters wins the game.
Good luck and have fun!

Remember Jesus Said
First grade does 1st & 3rd parts
Remember Jesus said,
Remember times we had,
Times when we were happy,
Times when we were sad,
Times we spent together,
In the dark and light.
Remember our togetherness.
Remember it tonight.
Remember Jesus said,
Remember how we shared.
When anyone had any need
Remember how we cared.
Remember how our friendship
Made every burden light.
Remember all our sharing
Remember it tonight.
Remember Jesus said,
Remember what I do.
I take this simple
bread and wine
And give myself to you.
Remember in the days to come,
Remember when you share
This bread and wine
As friends of mine,
Remember, I am there.
