COMPETITION ENTRY FORM 2013 Please submit your application to [email protected] ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for these competitions, you must be a financial 2013 MUTC member. Nonmembers can apply to participate in these competitions in the unlikely event that vacancies exist; however, non-members must pay an additional levy of $30 per selection in addition to the Entry Fee. Entries will be processed in order of receipt. Entries will close as soon as all available places are filled. TENNIS STANDARD / PREVIOUS COMPETITION EXPERIENCE All players are required to provide a self-assessment of their standard to assist with allocating players to the appropriate competition and teams. New players may be required to attend a grading session in Week 1 or 2 of Semester. Playing statistics from returning players will be utilized to allocate players to teams. At the discretion of the committee, players may be moved to a more appropriate standard of competition. Please note that new club members are given priority entry into the singles competition and match practice sessions REGIONAL COMPETITIONS Bayside Regional Tennis Association Pennant Competition is for advanced level players. There are only places for 4 teams (approximately 24 players in total). The options include men’s singles/doubles, women’s singles/doubles and mixed doubles. The selection of players into the teams and the grading of those teams is at the discretion of the MUTC committee and the decision of the MUTC committee is final. Ideally players should have access to a vehicle to travel to away matches. More information about the competition is available at http://www.baysidetennis.asn.au INTERNAL CLUB COMPETITIONS Open Doubles is suitable to advanced players who have had at least 3 years experience in playing club or regional competitions, must be able to sustain a fast paced rally of at least 6 shots, must be able to serve consistently with power and must understand the strategy of match play. Mixed Doubles is suitable for intermediate-competitive players who have some experience playing in competitions, must be able to sustain a medium to fast paced rally of at least 4 shots, must be able to serve relatively consistently and must understand the fundamentals of match play. Men’s Singles are suitable for competitive to advanced players who have some experience playing in competitions, must be able to sustain a medium to fast paced rally of at least 6 shots, must be able to serve consistently and must understand the strategy of singles match play. There are limited places available in this competition (20), therefore selection of players for this competition will be purely based on player seeding from past MUTC competitions and on the self-assessment for new players. Submission of an entry form will not guarantee a place in the competition if the player’s standard is below the 20th seeding. A certain number of places may be reserved for new players who are of a sufficient level to be competitive in this competition. Late entries will not be accepted. Women’s Singles / Doubles will be divided into various grades to suit those who select this option. Therefore, this competition will suit competitive-advanced players and recreational-intermediate players. Those selecting the competitive-advanced grade should have had at least 3 years experience in playing club or regional competitions, must be able to sustain a fast paced rally of at least 6 shots, must be able to serve consistently with power and must understand the strategy of match play. Those selecting the recreational-intermediate grade are relatively new to competition, must be able to sustain a medium to fast paced rally of at least 4 shots, must be able to serve relatively consistently and must understand the fundamentals of match play. Match Practice is suitable for those returning to competition after a lengthy break, players should be of an intermediatecompetitive standard, must be able to sustain a medium paced rally of at least 4 shots, players are starting to serve consistently and must understand the fundamentals of match play Beginners are highly encouraged to participate in our coaching program.
