Is making a difference to the lives of vulnerable victims and witnesses important to you? If
you are passionate about putting people first then this exciting opportunity will be for you.
Building upon our enhanced response to victims of crime, police officers will conduct needs
assessments when a person reports a crime, and this will help us to identify the impact of
each crime on each individual.
Following that assessment, those victims with identified cope and recovery needs will be
referred into the Victims First Hub, and thereafter, a bespoke cope and recovery plan will be
developed to ensure the victim and any vulnerable witnesses are provided with the support
they personally need. This support may come from a range of agencies, organisations, and
specialist services, but will be coordinated and facilitated by staff within the Hub to make the
journey through the criminal justice system seamless and manageable for the victim.
As a Victims First Coordinator you will be the first point of contact and your role will be to
ensure victims are updated and supported throughout the process. You will assess the
needs of individuals and tailor support packages which identify with the specific needs of
each case.
You will build local knowledge of what services are available and we will look for you
to proactively identify any gaps in service to inform future provision.
Your role will also be to work with the victim and offender to deliver effective Restorative
Justice interventions where appropriate.
In order to keep the victim at the heart of this service it is essential that you:
