Conditions of Play
1.
Rules of Netball
1.1
The Competition will be conducted regarding the Official Rules of Netball, unless where
modified in this Conditions of Play or associated documents.
2.
Masters Teams
2.1
Each team affiliated to the Netball SA Masters Competition shall:
a) Be bound by the Constitution and Regulations of Netball SA;
b) Be bound by this Conditions of Play; and
c) Be liable for such fees as set by Netball SA
2.2
Following Team Nominations being accepted, Teams shall be liable for all fees. If a Team
withdraws within and including fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the scheduled first Match
of the Season a $50.00 fine will be applied.
2.3
If a Team withdraws after the scheduled first Match of the Season, a fine of $100.00 and any
other applicable fees will apply.
2.4
If a Team withdraws after re-grading (as per clause 4), a fine of $200.00 and any other
applicable fees will apply.
3.
Conduct of Matches
3.1
Competition Structure
3.1.1
Matches will run over four (4) ten (10) minute quarters. Quarter time breaks are one (1)
minute and half time is three (3) minutes.
3.1.2
All Players must be turning 30 or above in the competition Season to be eligible.
3.1.3
The Masters Competition will be run at Priceline Stadium predominately indoors, however on
occasion; Players may be required to play outdoors. If this is to occur, the Team Coordinator
will be notified prior to the scheduled Match.
3.1.4
Before each game, Teams are required to pay their $50.00 Team Fee to the Competition
Supervisor in the Duty Room.
3.1.5
All Players must register and pay a provisional fee of $10.00 on, or before, their first Match.
Registrations should be completed, by the Players, through the online registration in
MyNetball. The provisional fee of $10.00 will cover three (3) Matches, after the third Match
full fees are required to continue playing (the provisional fee will come off the full fees). Any
Player who has not completed their registration will not be eligible to compete until they are
paid and registered. Any player not registered on their first night of play will be deemed
ineligible and fined as per 3.1.8.
3.1.6
Players will be covered under Netball SA’s Insurance Policy once their full, or provisional,
registration and payment for the Season has been successfully received via the MyNetball
Portal or Competition Supervisor in the Duty Room.
3.1.7
Any Team with an Ineligible Player that takes the court will be fined $20.00, to be paid within
7 days.

3.1.8
Umpires are allocated by the Competition Supervisor each round.
3.1.8
Two (2) points will be allocated for a win and one (1) point for a draw. In the event of a draw,
to establish which teams play in the finals, their position shall be determined by percentage.
3.1.9
Substitution rules are as per the Official Rules of Netball. Unlimited substitutions are
permitted during breaks and Teams can have up to twelve (12) Players listed for each Match.
3.1.10 Teams must supply a person to be a timer/scorer for each Match. If a Team cannot supply a
nominated timer/scorer, a Team Member must take on this role. Should there be a
discrepancy in the scores, the white card shall be taken as the official score. The minimum age
of a timer/scorer must be 14 years of age.
3.1.11 Names of all Players for both Teams must be written on the white score card, Umpires and
Captains must sign BOTH score cards after each Match. The score cards must be returned to
the Competition Supervisor in the Duty Room by the Team Coordinators of both teams at the
completion of the Match.
3.1.12 A Provisional Player is one who plays no more than three (3) games (‘fill in player’) in a Season.
A Provisional Player fee of $10.00 for up to three matches must be paid at the completion of
the first Match to the Competition Supervisor in the Duty Room. To be eligible for finals, the
Provisional Player must upgrade to a fully registered Player (as per clause 6.1).
3.1.13 In the event of an injury/blood the timer/clock will stop for up to 30 seconds and the Player
concerned must leave the court within this timeframe, a substitution/team change may occur.
If no substitution is made, play will resume with the position left vacant (if the position is C, it
must be filled) and the Player concerned or their replacement can return to the court once a
goal is scored.
3.1.14 If a Player is also Umpiring, that individual must be given the time to change into playing
clothes and be included in the starting 7 (seven) players for their Teams allocated Match.
Within reason (as determined by the Competition Supervisor), reasonable time must be
allowed for this to occur. All other Players must be ready for Match commencement at the
allocated time.
3.1.15 If a round is abandoned, no points will be awarded.
3.2
Forfeits
3.2.1
In the event a Team needs to forfeit a Match during the season the Team Coordinator must
notify the Netball SA office or the Competition Supervisor, and the Team Coordinator of the
opposing team (details provided below). Teams who make notification before 5:00pm on the
day of the Match must pay the forfeit fee as per registration form Teams who notify after
5:00pm on the day of the Match must pay the forfeit fee as per registration. Forfeit fees must
be paid within 7 days.

4.
Team Re-Grading
4.1
During the Season, re-grading of Teams may take place after four (4) Matches.
4.2
For when re-grading occurs, Teams may retain premiership points and percentage received
prior to the date of re-grading.

Uniforms
5.1
Each Team must have a standard regulation uniform (either dress and bike shorts or top and
skirt/shorts, that are above the knee) approved by Netball SA upon registration.
5.2
No Player shall play in a uniform not registered to their team without the permission of the
Competition Supervisor.
5.3
Suitable sporting footwear shall be worn. Spiked soles are not permitted.
5.4
Gloves are not permitted to be worn, without the permission of Netball SA. If approved, the
Player is to provide the written permission, if requested, by the Umpire prior to, or during a
Match.
6.
Finals Series
6.1
Players must have participated in three (3) minor round Matches, and be a fully registered
member of the competition (as per clause 3.1.5) to be eligible to play the finals series.
6.2
In the event of a drawn Match in the finals series, the Match shall recommence after a one (1)
minute interval, during which time team changes can be made. At the end of the one (1)
minute interval, teams will change ends and play extra time. Extra time is deemed as two (2)
x three (3) minute halves. At the end of the first three (3) minute half, teams will change end
and immediately recommence the second three (3) minute half. Teams are not permitted to
make any changes or substitutions during the entire six (6) minutes, including the change of
ends.
6.2.1
If at the end of second three (3) minute half the scores are still drawn, play will continue until
one team has a two (2) goal advantage.
6.3
Teams playing any unqualified Players (as per clause 6.1) in a Finals Series Match shall be
disqualified and fined $20.00, payable within 7 days.
6.4
In the event of an injury/blood the timer/clock will stop for up to 30 seconds and the Player

If no substitution is made, play will resume with the position left vacant (if the position is C, it
must be filled) and the Player concerned or their replacement can return to the court once a
goal is scored.
6.4.1
It is at the discretion of the Umpires should extra time be permitted, and, in case of serious
injury the Competition Supervisor may abandon the Match.
7.
Grievance Procedures
7.1
A Member with a grievance in relation to any Match shall in the first instance be referred to
the Competition Supervisor. The Competition Supervisor is contactable through the Duty
Room on the night of the Match.
7.2
In the second instance a Member with a grievance which is not suitable to report to the
Competition Supervisor will contact Netball SA on 08 8238 0500.
7.3
Formal complaints may be lodged if/when required. All formal complaints shall be lodged in
writing, by email, to Netball SA within two (2) calendar days from midnight on the day of the
Match to 5:00pm on the second calendar day.
