PETER AND THE WOLF HANSEL AND GRETEL The Youth Ballet of Worcester is hard at work preparing for two performances of Peter and the Wolf and Hansel and Gretel at the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts. Both these shows are on February 25. The first show is presented for school-aged children and starts at 10:00am. The second show is open to the public and starts at 6:00pm. Please help us get the word out about this show via social media, word-of-mouth, or contacting your student’s school. The cost for students at the 10:00am show is $12. Also, if you would like to volunteer to help backstage for either or both shows, please contact Miss Charlotte at [email protected] or Miss Jen at [email protected]. ANDRIA LAROCCO It is with sadness that we report that our contemporary teacher, Miss Andria LaRocco will be leaving BAW. She will be moving to Florida next month in an effort to further her dance career. Though she was with us a short time, she made such a positive impact on our students with her beautiful personality and her expertise in contemporary dance. We are sad to see her go, but wish her much luck and success in Florida. MID-YEAR STUDENT EVALUATIONS Some students will receive mid-year evaluations in February. These evaluations are presented to the students so they can be made aware of their progress from the first 16 weeks of the 1st semester. Evaluations will also give insight as to where future placement may be. If you have questions or would like to discuss the evaluation, please schedule a time to meet with Miss Jen and the instructor(s). If you would like to request an evaluation, please contact Miss Jen or Miss Charlotte. If you have friends that are interested in ballet, encourage them to try BAW for exceptional ballet instruction. INCLEMENT WEATHER BAW does NOT follow Worcester County public school closings during inclement weather. Many times, the snow in the morning is gone by class time. Miss Jen will make the decision to close the school and cancel classes by 12:30. Class cancellations will be posted on the Ballet Arts Worcester Facebook page and the calendar page on the BAW website (balletartsworcester.com). Miss Jen will also send out an email blast and will change the message on the school’s voice mail if classes are cancelled. If classes are not cancelled but you do not feel safe coming to the school please stay home. The class may be made up at a later date. Our first priority is that everyone is safe! SUMMER STUDY Those students wishing to take photographs and dialogue about summer program options outside BAW must give Miss Jen a two-week notice so Ballet Arts Worcester is hosting the Worcester she can plan and schedule you in accordingly.
