Staff Contracts NOTES TO THE AGENDA – JULY 2014 1. LEE COOPER LETTER OF THANKS Parish council to write a letter of thanks to Lee Cooper to thank him for the generous donation of a vase for the memorial flowers to be put in, to enable people to still sit on the bench on Pisca Lane. 2. SKATE PARK / UNDER 5s PLAY AREA QUOTE Under 5s Play area currently being revamped. Quotation received to replace damaged fencing with 8ft security fencing, complete with gates to be locked every evening 9pm summer, 5pm winter. There is also the quotation to consider to use the old fencing to fence off the underside of the skate ramps, which is currently being used by the drinkers and drug users. 3. SKATE PARK RELOCATION AND FUTURE SUGGESTIONS Skate park is currently causing issues. A suggestion would be to locate the skate park on the Leicester Road Play area site, so that it can be better monitored by the police. The new design has no ‘hiding’ places for drug abuse or trouble makers. See suggested layout. It was therefore suggested that a covered ball court be put behind the under 5s again still being locked 9pm, earlier during the winter. Tennis court/basket ball, football goal ends etc… 4. CCTV Quotes currently being obtained for CCTV coverage for the skate park, and under5s play area. Other Areas to be considered. 5. CHRISTMAS EVENT GROUP REQUEST Parish council agreed an initial £500 grant to cover Insurance and first aid cover. Events group asked for a £500 grant (quotes obtained) to cover the staging, lighting and music amplifiers for the Christmas event. Event so far :Parade Light switch on by local celebrities Christmas King and queen Band Floats and Walking entrants for Parade Welfare site:Fair ground Christmas Grotto Hot Food / drink Christmas wonderland market Ice rink Live Bands 6. HIGH STREET CHRISTMAS TREES/ SHOP KEEPER SUPPORT Following last years comments.. Parish council to decide what support to offer to local shop keepers with regards to providing trees, Lights and decorating the High Street for Christmas. 7. SENCE VALLEY Council to discuss Clerks meeting with Sence Valley representatives. Bins being removed as Forestry Commission cannot fund the £4k to empty. Council to discuss options to assist. 8. CHAPEL STREET BUNTING (HIGH STREET??) County Highways rejected the suggestion of lights from Lamp post to lamp post due to tension issues, damaging the structure of the lampposts. After speaking o Measham Parish council, a suggestion that we contact houses up chapel street, and ask them to put a ‘eyelet fixing’ on their property, and we can fix bunting to that? Measham hire a cherry picker, and a local fireman volunteer fixes bunting. 9. BATTRAM TREE QUOTE Two trees In Battram Play area to be removed due to concerns raised about the roots damaging neighbouring property. 10. ADOPTION OF HEDGE – DAVIDSONS Council to discuss proposals from Davidsons regarding the adoption of the hedge on their current development. Suggested Council adopt other wise it would be passed to home owners and can be removed or not managed efficiently. 11. BATTRAM PLAY AREA VAT REFUNDS Suggested to use the VAT refunds to replace the equipment on Battram Play area. It is in need of Replacing, but current funding doesn’t cover Battram. £14475.51 12. UNDER 5s OPENING AND NAMING Council to discuss Davidsons request to rename the under 5s in memory of his Grandmother. Official opening of the new play area to be confirmed?
