Team Management for Coaches Player Management – Adding New Player When starting a new team, you will need to create players new to the manager. Some players will have previous playing experience for other managers while some will have no roster history with Nations Baseball. Both types of players will be added through the same process. On the Player Admin screen, locate the Add New Player section. Fill out the information EXACTLY the way it appears on the player’s birth certificate. Nations Baseball requires the player be entered under their full legal name. Click Submit when the information is entered. The system will re-direct you to the player search page. If the system identifies players currently in the system, it will display the player’s roster history. There may be multiple matches for the player in question. Some of these matches may be the same player while some may be different. Nations Baseball has both automated and manual review processes in place to match player records to ensure the most accurate rosters of any national sanction, but there may be records that were not matched. If you locate one of these records, please email [email protected] and we will merge the records together. In the example above, you can see the system identified a player matching the information that was entered. If this is the same player, click the radial next to the player’s record and click Add Player. If the search did not return a match OR if the search returned a different player from what you are entering, click the button next to “Create A New Player”. This will create an entirely new record. WARNING – Nations Baseball rules REQUIRE that you enter the matched player if it is correct. If the system matches the player and you choose to create a new player in an attempt to avoid classification, age limit or frozen roster status, you may subject yourself to severe penalties including game forfeitures, ejection from tournaments and suspension/permanent ban from Nations sanctioned events. In the case of the example above, the player in question is of a higher age than the team (Player age 19, Team age 15). You will see that the system has identified this and has issued warnings to the coach that adding the player will cause the team to be reclassified as a 19U team. An additional warning was also issued that the team in question has a frozen roster status and that adding the player will result in the use of one of the 3 available additions to the team roster. Because player classification is the core about which our team classification system is designed and because adding players to rosters may affect a player’s eligibility to play on other teams, COACHES ARE STRONGLY URGED TO READ AND THOUROUGHLY UNDERSTAND THE NATIONS BASEBALL ROSTER RULES BEFORE ADDING PLAYERS TO THEIR TEAM. If you have questions, please direct them to [email protected] and the office staff will clarify any questions you may have.
