Craine and teammate Andre Golden
re-wrote the Shelby
County record book,
breaking singleseason passing and
receiving records that
had stood since 1994.
He completed 210 of
368 passes for 3,306 yards and 29
touchdowns while running for an
additional five scores.
Hayden led the Gryphons to the Division
2-A state championship and was named
Mr. Football after a
terrific 2015 season.
He led Shelby County
in both rushing yards
(2,511) and rushing
touchdowns (31) while averaging
nearly 10 yards per carry. Hayden
saved his best for the Division 2-A
state title game, running for 266
yards as the Gryphons defeated
Northpoint.

Cordarrian Richardson
Lamar made
headlines all year
— most notably in
a wild game against
Olive Branch in which
he accounted for 11
touchdowns. Overall,
he ran for 2,372 yards
and 38 touchdowns
in 12 games, while catching three
touchdown passes and scoring
twice on returns.
The future Oregon
player turned in a
remarkable season in
leading White Station
to a 9-4 record and a
spot in the 6A quarterfinals. He caught
82 passes for 1,420
yards and 20 touchdowns while running for 889 yards
and 21 more scores en route to winning 6A Mr. Football and Gatorade
player of the year honors.
Richardson showed
why some of the
nation’s top colleges
are clamoring for
his services, rushing for 2,239 yards
and 18 touchdowns
while picking up five
more scores on punt
returns. He set the state-title game
record with 342 yards and accounted for four touchdowns as the Bears
beat Marion County to win the 2A
championship.

DEFENSE FINALISTS
Wayne Eades
Nickell Herron
Eades was a
standout performer
on one of the area’s
top defenses and
capped his season
by being named
defensive player of
the year in Region
8-5A. He recorded
70 solo tackles — including 25 for
lost yardage — along with 15 sacks.
Eades also forced five fumbles and
recovered six others while leading
the Warriors to a playoff berth.
The Jaguars ended
the year second only
to Trezevant in total
defense in Shelby
County and Herron
was the ringleader.
The all-region selection recorded a teamhigh 96 tackles, along
with six sacks, four fumble recoveries and an interception. Herron was
also fantastic on special teams,
blocking 10 extra point or field goal
attempts this season.

Donte Vaughn
Johnson had a
big season for the
Roadrunners, who
boasted one of the
area’s strongest defenses. He recorded
117 tackles — 18 for
lost yardage — and
five sacks en route
to being named a 4A Mr. Football
semifinalist. He also intercepted one
pass, returning it for a touchdown in
a victory over MUS.
Swift’s play at
linebacker was one
of the keys this year
as Trezevant finished
12-3 and won its first
state title in school
history, beating
Marion County in the
2A final. He finished
with 157 tackles, five fumble recoveries and four interceptions, one of
which he returned 95 yards for a
score. Swift was also a Mr. Football
semifinalist.
The latest in a long
line of outstanding
Whitehaven defensive
backs, Vaughn was
named defensive
player of the year in
Region 4-6A while
helping the Tigers to a
12-2 mark and a spot
in the state semifinals. He recorded
40 tackles, broke up 12 passes and
picked off four more, returning two
for touchdowns while playing on a
defense with several other all-stars.

After losing in the 4A title games in 2010 and 2014, White’s Bears finally got the gold ball in 2015. Trezevant defeated Marion County 40-35 in the 2A title game to cap a 12-3 season.
