OFFENSE FINALISTS Jerry Craine Chase Hayden Craine and teammate Andre Golden re-wrote the Shelby County record book, breaking singleseason passing and receiving records that had stood since 1994. He completed 210 of 368 passes for 3,306 yards and 29 touchdowns while running for an additional five scores. Hayden led the Gryphons to the Division 2-A state championship and was named Mr. Football after a terrific 2015 season. He led Shelby County in both rushing yards (2,511) and rushing touchdowns (31) while averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. Hayden saved his best for the Division 2-A state title game, running for 266 yards as the Gryphons defeated Northpoint. Overall, he ran for 2,372 yards and 38 touchdowns in 12 games, while catching three touchdown passes and scoring twice on returns. He caught 82 passes for 1,420 yards and 20 touchdowns while running for 889 yards and 21 more scores en route to winning 6A Mr. Football and Gatorade player of the year honors. Richardson showed why some of the nation’s top colleges are clamoring for his services, rushing for 2,239 yards and 18 touchdowns while picking up five more scores on punt returns. He set the state-title game record with 342 yards and accounted for four touchdowns as the Bears beat Marion County to win the 2A championship. The Jaguars ended the year second only to Trezevant in total defense in Shelby County and Herron was the ringleader. The all-region selection recorded a teamhigh 96 tackles, along with six sacks, four fumble recoveries and an interception. Herron was also fantastic on special teams, blocking 10 extra point or field goal attempts this season.
