Directs a user throughout your site.
Structure
• The goal and the type of a Web site are major
determinates in the type of structure selected for a
specific site.
– Linear Format?
– Hierarchical Format?
– Grid Format?
Linear Structure
• User navigates sequentially, moving from one page
to the next
• Example: Tutorial web site
Hierarchical Structure
• User starts at a home page and then makes a
choice as to what series of pages they want to view
• Must go back to the home page to access another
series of pages
Grid Structure
• User can access any other page from the home
page
• Example: Procedure manuals, events, and item lists
Random Structure
• User randomly selects a page within a site but may
not have access back to the home page or to any
other page within the site.
