December Update
Christmas Fayre
Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Fayre last Friday. Over £800 was raised. Thank you to
all our FOBBS members for all their hard work!
Parent Questionnaires
Thank you to those parents who took the time to complete and return our recent Parent Questionnaire. 56
questionnaires were returned and the overall response was extremely positive. Any issues raised in the ‘what
we could do better’ section will be followed up with a parent forum group in the new year and reported back to
you via the website and monthly newsletters.
CHIC Club supports Calderdale ‘Smartmove’
Back in October we donated our harvest collection to Calderdale Smartmove – a charity that supports
homeless people in the local area. Last month, the children from CHIC club visited the Smartmove centre in
Halifax, where they met with Craig (the volunteer who had previously visited school) and found out more about
how donations are used to support vulnerable people. While they were there, one of the children asked Craig
was there ever a time of year when they didn’t receive many donations. Craig’s answer shocked both the
children and staff, as he replied ‘Christmas time’.
In response to this, and under Mr Price’s guidance, CHIC club decided to run their own stall at the Christmas
Fayre and they raised over £60. Their intention was to use this money to buy presents to donate to
Smartmove for distribution to vulnerable families this Christmas time. This week a number of staff have also
decided to make a charity donation to this increasing fund. On Wednesday 14th December some of our CHIC
club children (accompanied by Mr Price) are planning to go Christmas shopping to B & M to buy a selection of
presents (all discounted by 10% by B & M) to hand over to Smartmove as a Christmas present from Bailiffe
Bridge School.
If you would like to contribute to this collection – either with a monetary donation, a spare Christmas present or
a donation similar to those given at harvest time, your kindness would be greatly appreciated. Craig is
planning to visit school on behalf of Smartmove on Thursday 15th December to collect our Christmas present.
Thank you!
Also, a special mention must be given to our CHIC club children for their selfless work and thoughtful
kindness. An update on this project, with photographs, will be posted on the school website before the end of
term.
Staffing
As the term draws to a close, we will be saying ‘goodbye’ to two of our valued members of staff. Jennie Flintoft
(Midday Supervisor) will be leaving our lunchtime team and Paula Joyce (Teaching Assistant) is branching out
on a new career path as a Weight Watchers leader. Thank you to both ladies for your hard work over the
years. Good luck for the future. You’ll both be missed!
Christmas Arrangements
Here are the plans for the final week of term:
CHRISTINGLE
The Christingle services will take place on Monday 12th December in school and
will be led by Rev James Woolford from Lower Wyke Moravian Church. The
service for children in Reception, Class 1, Class 5 and Class 6 will take place
at 9.15am (we buddy the oldest and youngest children up) and the service for
Classes 2, 3 and 4 will take place at 10.15am.
CHRISTMAS DINNER
The school Christmas dinner will take place on Tuesday 13th December.
Children are invited to wear a Christmas jumper at this event. Please send them
in a bag for children to change into at lunchtime.
CHRISTMAS PARTIES
The children are invited to bring party clothes into school in a named carrier bag
on the day of their party. After lunchtime, they will be given time to change into
their party outfits before the celebrating begins. Reception, Class 1 & 2 will
have their party on Thursday 15th December and Classes 3 – 6 on Friday 16th
December.
CAROL SERVICE
On the last day of term – Friday 16th December, our annual Carol Service will
take place at 9.00am. This is the time where the staff share the true meaning of
Christmas with us and we have a last chance to sing our Christmas
Songs for 2016. This event will run in the same way as our tree decorating
assembly did, with an open invitation for parents and grandparents of our
Class 6 children to attend.

Christmas is always such a magical time in school and I hope you enjoy all our festive

your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas time. We look forward to a continued
partnership with you in 2017.
Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter. If you wish to discuss any issues relating to the above
