BSNA INFORMATION PACK for 2017 SEASON
To All Clubs, Schools and stand-alone teams, including intending new teams.
The Bendigo Strathdale Netball Association 2017 season starts with Round 1 on
Friday 21st/Saturday 22nd April and will be played over 16 rounds. Finals will be
held on 1st & 2nd September and 8th/9th September, with Grand Finals held on
Friday & Saturday 15th & 16th September 2017.
It is anticipated that the competition will comprise the following grades (depending
on final entries, further splits may be necessary). Section 1B is equivalent to last
year’s Section 2, Section 2A is equivalent to last year’s 3A etc.
Grade 3 (primary)
Grade 4 (primary)
Grade 5 (primary)
Grade 6A and 6B (primary)
13yrs & Under (13/A and 13/B)
Section 4A & 4B
Section 3A & 3B
Section 2A & 2B
Section 1A and 1B
Please note that up to 13/U is age or grade limited, whereas Sections 1,2,3 and 4 are
open to players aged 18 and under (at 31 December 2017). The Association
currently does not intend to hold a Grading Day for the 2017 season. Clubs should
enter teams based on how they believe they should be graded – final grading
decisions will occur over the first five weeks of competition, where draws will be
adjusted to assist with grading decisions.
Following the success of introducing Friday night games last season, it is intended to
expand this component of our competition to cater for the increasing numbers of
enquiries from outside clubs wishing to join us in 2017 (and increased team
numbers from existing clubs). The Association has secured the indoor courts for
Friday nights for next season, allowing our Friday night component to be played
1
Bendigo Strathdale Netball Association

www.bendigostrathdalena.vic.netball.com.au
both indoor and outdoor from 5pm to 9pm and increasing our court capacity
accordingly. It is intended that Sections 1A and 1B and all Section 4 continue to play
their competition games on Friday nights. Depending on final team entries, it is
likely that another Section or combination of Sections will need to play Friday nights
– or a split of some games Friday, some Saturday.
At present, all teams entering the 2017 season should ensure players are available
to play Friday nights if their grade or games are selected. It is intended also that the
By-laws be updated to reflect grading decisions made after Round 5.
With the Association continuing to grow so quickly, it is important to ensure the
Exec Officer is kept up to date with possible changes. Whilst all existing clubs are
guaranteed their existing team numbers from the 2016 season, if you intend to
increase team participation, early advice of additional teams and grades is
paramount. It is intended that the following procedures and timelines will be
followed:
1. All outside clubs/teams proposing to transfer to the BSNA for 2017 must
provide a written notification of their intent, indicating team numbers and
probable grades. The closing date for these applications is 30 November
2016. (Every effort will be made to accommodate these requests, but no
guarantee of acceptance can be given however until all information is
available).
2. All existing clubs/teams proposing additional teams above their 2016
numbers must notify detail to the Exec Officer in writing by 31st December
2016. Additional teams after this date may be possible, but cannot be
guaranteed a place.
3. Note that full team detail such as player names and payments are not
required until our Team Registration evenings in March 2017.
4. Any clubs/stand alone teams in a position to submit general team entries
earlier than Team Registration day would be most appreciated. Player names
and payments are not needed until Registration day.
2017 FEES
BSNA fees for 2017 have not changed – a summary of fees is detailed in the
attachment below. Note that Netball Victoria’s compulsory membership
registration fees for 2017 have risen slightly. All players, coaches and umpires

MyNetball to ensure access to the online registration portal and registration
template set-up area (BFNL development teams playing with the BSNA must have a
separate log-in under the BSNA umbrella). Club IT Individual User Agreements need
to be provided to the Exec Officer in the first instance to allow connection to
MyNetball for new users. The form is included in this Information Pack.
