HOw TO STREAM MEDiA USiNg THE `UPnP` OPTiON ON

how to stream media
using the ‘upnp’ option
on your archos player
â across a wifi network
If you do not use Windows® Media Player 11, you can search the Web
for other Universal Plug’n Play (UPnP) software or devices that will share
media files over a WiFi connection.
2 First, make a WiFi connection to
your network (the same network
that your computer uses) by
selecting Enable WiFi from the
Home Screen menu. ARCHOS
has a guide on this if you have
not done it before.
ARCHOS
INSIDER TIPS!
s
1 This is a one-time process. Once
done, you can easily view photos
and play videos and music from
your computer over WiFi by
selecting the option Network
‘UPnP’ in the ARCHOS Video,
Music, or Photo browsers.
Not only is it very cool
to be anywhere in your
house or yard and play
movies or music from
your computer, but
what’s really great is
using the ARCHOS
DVR Station to play all
the movies from your
computer on the big
screen of your living
room home cinema
over your Wifi network!
3 On your computer, start
Windows® Media Player 11 and
in the Library pull-down menu,
select ‘Media Sharing.’
4 Check the box ‘Share my
Media.’ Within few moments, the
ARCHOS device will be displayed
in the list of possible shared
devices. Click on the ARCHOS
icon, then click the button ‘Allow.’
The ARCHOS icon will then have
a small green check mark next to
it indicating that you have allowed
Windows® Media Player to share
media with that device. Click ‘OK.’
This is the end of the one-time
set-up process.
View photo or play music, videos and movies
wherever you are with your ARCHOS player.
5 Now, on your ARCHOS device
(whenever your computer is
on), you can simply click on the
Network ‘UPpnP’ option in Music,
Video or Photos and see all of
the media on your computer. You
can enjoy any media immediately
– just select a file to start playing.
