Digital Economy (WIDE) to track the evolution
of nations in the digital economy. WITSA should

Global CIO Council
12
www.witsa.org
Description
 A Global CIO Council comprising key CIOs from
WITSA economies could discuss, present and lobby for
interventions that positively impact the global CIO
community. It would also share best practices among
global CIO practitioners and provide input on the
direction of the global ICT industry. We propose the
formation of this committee under the banner of WITSA,
similar in stature to other WITSA Standing Committees
Outcome

Global Talent
Certification
16
www.witsa.org
Description
 WITSA to coordinate and drive global
certification of talent in key areas of ICT
for the benefit of WITSA members and
countries across the world. This effort will
promote standardization of certifications
practised in countries in order to meet
market demand for talent, either locally or
globally.
Outcome
7/13/2017
A Global Talent Certification standard
for areas like ICT Project Management,
Software Architecture, Network
Administration, Data Analytics et cetera
can help develop the global talent
required for technologies innovations.
Certifications help train and identify
qualified, knowledgeable employees
and match them with employers who
have jobs to fill. Having global
certifications make it easier for the
industry to match market demand with
supply of talent.

www.witsa.org
WITSA
Description
 We propose the formulation of the WITSA Global
Centers of Excellence (CoE) Blueprint to promote
and encourage the sharing of best practices among the
ICT industries of member economies. The CoEs would
serve as a source of reference for knowledge transfer
and provide thought leadership for the growth and
development of the ICT community. This will also
provide WITSA with a bigger voice to influence
governments and other institutions on ICT policies.
Once the blueprint is available, member economies
could bid to host specific CoEs subject to their meeting
a set of qualifying criteria.

White Papers on Innovative
Technologies
28
www.witsa.org
Description
 WITSA could commission White Papers on various
ICT-related topics to provide members with data and
information that would outline prospective opportunities
for their affiliates and economies. White Papers
produced under WITSA’s aegis would be regarded with
greater credibility and objectivity as opposed to findings
released by individual vendors.
Outcome
7/13/2017
This will serve to
enhance WITSA’s clout
as the leading voice of
the global ICT industry

ICT Policy & Best Practices
Database
32
www.witsa.org
Description
 A database on ICT policy and best practices would
serve as a benchmark that encourages industry players,
particularly from developing economies, to raise their
standards and increase their competitiveness in the
global marketplace.
 We propose for the compilation of a database on ICT
policy and best practices from WITSA member
economies, which can then be shared via the WITSA
website.
Outcome
7/13/2017
It will also enable WITSA members and their
affiliates to analyze current trends and
keep abreast of the latest issues in
standards. Whilst we currently support the
UN GAID initiative on Best Practices, we
must also be the reference point for data
from our members.

WITSA Eminent

Program
40
www.witsa.org
Description
 Global personalities have the power to raise the
profile of WITSA and the ICT industry it
represents.
 We propose that every WITSA member
nominate and appoint an ‘international face’
from among their fellow citizens as their WITSA
Eminent
Person.
Their
respective
ambassadors could be the point person in their
Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
Outcome
7/13/2017
Members could also leverage on
their Eminent Person’s status to
promote ICT for societal good.
Imagine, for example, the great
Nelson Mandela as a WITSA

between
its

governments
to
promote
greater
awareness and usage of ICT within the private
and public sectors as well as among societies.
 These partnerships represent a platform for

ICT and also for feedback for private-public
entities to express their needs and desires
where ICT is concerned.

52
www.witsa.org
Description
 Corporate Social Responsibility will be a new initiative
for WITSA although the organization had already played
a role in responding to the Chilean Earthquake in
February 2010.
 CSR activities are an extension of WITSA’s role to
harness the power of ICT to improve the lives of
individuals and global communities.
 For e.g., following the devastating earthquake in Chile
on February 27, 2010, WITSA kick-started a donation
drive for Rebuilding the Chilean ICT Infrastructure.
Outcome


WITSA Donations for Rebuilding the Chilean ICT Infrastructure
Following the devastating earthquake in Chile on February 27, 2010,
WITSA contacted our Chilean member association, GECHS, and offered
our most sincere condolences for their tremendous losses. The WITSA
Board of Directors asked our Secretariat to investigate additional ways that
WITSA and its members could offer assistance. In consultation with Mr.
Luis Stein at GECHS, it was recommended that donations would best
serve in support of the rebuilding of the ICT infrastructure in affected
areas. For those of you that wish to make donations to Chile to assist in
rebuilding their ICT infrastructure please send donations directly here.
We are also pleased to inform you that WITSA will post a donation box during
WCIT 2010, so that delegates will have an opportunity to donate as well.
If you have any questions regarding WITSA’s efforts in support of Earthquake
Relief for Chile please contact the Secretary General.
