1.Brief Introduction XMT-288FC-III Series Digital Display Thermometers are our specially designed complete sets to winding transformers indicator. With connected with a BWR-04 Thermoregulator, the XMT-288FC-III can take remote measurement and control of the winding temperature in a transformer. The series Thermometers include two kinds, one of which can output (4~20)mA direct current signal (refer Figure 1).The other one owns communication port RS485 which can link with a computer directly(refer Figure 2). After installing, it can be connected .(Refer Figure 4 ) Figure 4 2 The connection of communication port RS485 refers Figure 5. Figure 5 If the XMT-288FC-Ⅲ was been adjusted before using, power it on after check the connection for 30 minutes, then make it work. 5.Adjusting Every XMT-288FC-Ⅲ have been already adjusted before its delivery. The test on XMT-288FC-Ⅲ can be conducted by connecting it either with a standard direct current signal source or with a BWR—04 with its bulb inserted into a constant temperature trough. 1. Basic facilities & condition for test: ·One direct current resistance box with grade 0.05 ·One multimeter ·Power supply: 220VAC(±10%) ·Without corrosive gases around 2 Testing process Connect wires according to Figure 6 especially for the XMT-288FC- Ⅲ outputting 4~20mADC signal, a resistance of 250Ω should be connected between the terminals of 8 and 9. So take the voltage drop of output current on the resistance as output signal when testing. Power it on after check the connection 30 minutes later, according to the meter’s measuring range, carry out the test. Figure 6 3 Referring to Chart 1,check the upper limit alarm with “Ω”shift of a multimeter. Repair To keep the meter working in a long term with reliable condition, always take a regular check (once a year on general) for the elementary errors、control function and other main technical parameters. 2 .Troubleshooting 2.1 .of no display 2.2 of overflow or unstable display Notice: If lead of the input port is broken, the value will shows:”-1”. 7. Points of Notice 1. Please read the instructions thoroughly before operate the XMT-288F(C). 2. Please connect wires strictly according to the terminal marks. 3. Please specify the model, thermal resistance, measuring range and range of standard signal output when ordering. If not we will supply as output (4-20)mA. 4. The meter is guaranteed for a year since it turns out. 5. The meter still has other more potential functions could be developed, welcome to order other special models. 4 8.MODBUS PROTOCOL 1. The serial transmission mode: RTU mode In RTU mode, each 8-bit message byte contain two 4-bit hexadecimal characters, each message must be transmitted in a continuous stream. Baud Slave Function Start Start Numder Addr. Code Addr. Addr. Of (03H) (Hi) (Lo) points (Hi) Number Of points (Lo) CRC CRC (Lo) (Hi) rate: 9600bps 2.MODBUS message Format The MODBUS protocol defines the format for the master’s query and the slave’s response, only the master can initiate a query. The query contains the device address, a function (only 03H) defining the requested action, any data to be sent, and an error-checking field. The response contains fields confirming the action taken, any data to be returned, and an error-checking field. If an error occurred in receipt of the message, or if the slaver is unable to perform the requested action, the slaver will construct an error message and send it as its response. Query The example illustrates a request for a single 16-bit Modbus Register RTU Mode Byte Format Coding system Bits per byte Error check field 8-bit binary hexadecimal 0-9,A-F, two hexadecimal characters in each 8-bit field of the message 1 start bit+8 data bits, lsb sent first+1 stop bit with no parity Cyclical redundancy check (CRC) Slave Address: 8-bit value representing the slave being addressed a (0 to 31) Function code: 8-bit value telling the addressed slave what action is to be performed. (Only 03H) Start Address (Hi): the top (most significant) eight bits of a 16-bit number specifying the start address of the data being requested Start Address (Lo): the bottom (least significant) eight bits of a 16-bit number specifying the start address of the data being requested Number of points (Hi): The top (most significant) eight bits of a 16-bit number specifying the number of registers being requested. Number of points (Lo): The bottom (least significant) eight bits of a 16-bit number specifying the number of registers being requested CRC(Lo):The bottom(least significant)eight bits of a 16-bit number representing the error check value CRC(Hi):The top(most significant)eight bits of a 16-bit number representing the error check value 5 -1 Response The example illustrates the normal response to a request for a single 16-bit register. Slave Function Byte Data Data CRC CRC Addr. Code Count (Hi) (Lo) (Lo) (Hi) (03H) (02H) Slave Address: 8-bit value representing the address of slave, which has just responded Function code: Only 03H, a copy of the function code in the query, indicates that the slave recognized the query and has responded Byte conut8-bit value indicating the number of data bytes contained within this response (02H) Data (Hi): The top (most significant) eight bits of a 16-bit number representing the register requested in the query The most-significant bit set to logic ‘1’,it means that the temperature is below 0℃.For example,8064H= -10.0℃; 0064H=10.0℃ Data (Lo): The bottom (least significant) eight bits of a 16-bit number representing the register requested in the query. A 16 bit signed integer value with resolution of 0.1℃/lsb.For example, a value of 253 is equivalent to 25.3℃ CRC (Lo): The bottom (least significant) eight bits of a 16-bit number representing the error check value CRC (Hi):: The top (most significant)eight bits of a 16-bit number representing the error check value Exception response If an error is detected in the content of the query, the function code will be modified to indicate that the response, and the data byte will contain a code that describes the error. The exception response is identified by the function code being a copy of the query function code.
