Focus: Sensory - Loud noises, boldness & confidence.

Objective: Horse & Rider navigate safely & effectively throughout lesson. Horse learns
partnership & riding in proximity to other horses while being well behaved.
- Must have HALTER under bridle for every lesson.
- Please bring your whistle, also if you have a large ball please bring it to the lesson.
PLEASE DO NOT WORK ON THE OBSTACLES IN THE ARENA
BEFORE THE LESSON, THANK YOU! You may walk around them.

(Group 1- small arena): Learning to push a ball, Advanced work: Soccer Game!

Warm Ups: 9:00-10:00
Ground-work – flexion & bending of poll and neck. Movement of forehand & haunches.
Saddle work - flexion & bending of poll and neck, walk & trot to warm up muscles,
practice side pass RT & LT, Turn on the forehand, Turn on the haunches. While riding at
a walk practice bending horses neck both sides.
Arena Work: 10:00 – 10:45 (If you have a large ball please bring it with you. Thanks!)
(Group 1- Outdoor Arena): Learning to push a ball, Advanced work: Soccer Game!
- First: Groundwork using halter & lead to guide horse.
(1) Stationary ball we walk horses around the balls.
(2) Person guides ball - make horse follow rolling smoothly on the ground, advances
to bouncing the ball in front of the horse as horse follows the ball. Allow horse to
touch the ball if curious.
(3) Once horses are comfortable with the ball we are going to try to ask the horse to
bump the ball forward using their legs.
- Advanced horses please partner up and work with newer horses.
(4) Pair work: One partner leads own horse following the ball while traveling in a
large circle around other partner holding (hopefully) stationary horse. It’s OK if
horse needs to turn and face the moving ball. Trade places.
(5) Pair work: Partners pass ball back and forth as they walk with horses following.
(6) Pair work: See if one horse can bump ball forward and then let other horse bump
ball forward.
- Second: Mounted work (Advanced horses please be aware of the newer horses)
(1) Riders space themselves out in the arena for solo work with the ball.
Arena Work: 10:45 – 11:30 (Music & “Noises” will play while we ride)
(Group 2 – Covered Arena): Practicing Partnership in PAIR riding,
PART 1: Practicing Partnership riding in pairs AROUND obstacles,
- be prepared for various directions & riding skills previously practiced.
PART 2: Riding THROUGH the obstacles (1) singles then (2) partners
Obstacle 1: Tunnel of Fire (Filice)
Obstacle 2: Cowboy Carwash - OPEN, (2) “CLOSED” (Filice)
Obstacle 3: Flying Flags (1) Stationary (2) Mounted rider carrying flag.
Obstacle 4: Stroller with balloons (1) stationary, (2) moving
Obstacle 5: Noodle Turnstyle (Filice)
Obstacle 6: Water obstacle (outside of arena, water will be on/in the tarps laid over poles)
Obstacle 7: (1) Caution tape tied to posts along the arena wall. (2) Balloons tied to posts.
Obstacle 8: Person with an umbrella (1) Stationary, (2) walking & moving.
Obstacle 9: Exit & Enter the arenas with gate work practice.

Road Work: 11:30 – 12:00
(Both groups) - PAIR riding on Runnymede. (Loud speakers & music, clapping, etc...)
Group 1 rides on the street while Group 2 stands stationary along the road. If riders feel
comfortable while standing they may clap and make noise. Whistles!
Clean up arena to work on last obstacle.
