PRESS INFORMATION New Zoch games – presented at Essen 2012 25 years games of skill and construction in Zoch-style This winter the Munich game publisher Zoch brings attractive and challenging game ideas to the stores. Presented first time in Essen in hall10, 39 from October 17. to October 21. 2012. Riff Raff A game of skill on stormy seas “Riff Raff“ is a game of skill and construction in typical Zoch-style. The adventure takes place on a proud ship on the high seas. The sailboat has Cardan suspension and sways in all directions depending on the load. Captain Bullauge has the freight stowed up to the highest yardarms. The players become sailors and try to stabilize the single-mast sailboat to prevent the increasingly heavy freight going overboard. Each player wants to stow their own freight (eight pieces of wood) faster than all other players but nonetheless safely. Boat, trunk, case, barrel, flask, plank and even a sailor and a rat. There are four loading areas on deck, six more in the three yardarms. Round after round players decide where to put the freight. Cards from one to ten decide on possible sites, but each may only be used once. If the ship tips while loading then the freight which slips off goes to the person who caused it to tip. However if the player manages to catch what can be saved with their bare hands then this may be pushed to one side. Original and wonderfully orchestrated, “Riff Raff“ convinces young and old alike. The game of construction and skill designed by author Christoph Cantzler and attractively produced by Zoch is opulently equipped: a lavishly designed wooden ship with Cardan suspension, a mast, three yardarms with three supports, link suspension, 32 pieces of freight and 40 game cards. It will be available in stores from the end of April for approx. EUR 50. Banana Matcho Exciting dicing duels over a squeaky banana Players take turns competing against each other. Whereas one player will try to dice as many high point combinations as possible, another will attempt to cross these plans by dicing as many “banana matchos“ as they can. The squeaky banana lies between the two duelists, who run the great risk of not standing up to time pressure and losing everything. Players need to keep a cool head to always weigh up the risk well. And visitors to Spiel 2012 in Essen will be able to build up their strength at Zoch. For all “Banana Macho“ friends the publishing house will have two tons of bananas at the stand (Hall 10, 39) to provide the necessary vitamins for exciting dicing duels. “Banana Macho“ by Thilo Hutzler for 2 to 6 players 6 years and up. Game lasts about 15-20 minutes. Price approx. EUR 20. www.zoch-verlag.com Mimikri Memory game with a “special camera“ Summer is back again: A great variety of colorful butterflies are placed face down in the center of the table. The players use a “special camera“ to find them. Thanks to good memory and spatial skills players manage to make those butterflies visible whose hiding places they have already discovered in the face down cards. Then in the same turn they can turn over the appropriate butterfly at the center of the table. Fun for the whole family is guaranteed when the colorful butterflies are reflected in the mirror. “Mimikri“ by Brigitte Pokornik for 2 to 4 players 6 years and up. Game lasts about 20-30 minutes. Price approx. EUR 20. www.zoch-verlag.com. Karolinchen Dice game to the “Children’s Game of the Year 2011“ To go with the “Children’s Game of the Year 2012“ in ”Karolinchen“ worms are once again called into action. They start off in the fruit garden and eat their way through all sorts of fruits. The dice decides which fruits they are allowed to snack on. The winner is the first to eat all six types of fruit. “Karolinchen“ by Carmen Kleinert for 2 to 6 players 6 years and up. Game lasts about 20 minutes. Price approx. EUR 10. www.zoch-verlag.com. Jackal & High Gamble for all you’re worth “Jackal & High“ is a dice game for gamblers. The players gamble to win the pack cards at the center of the table. They try to dice the exact values of the displayed cards. Cards which aren’t used are discarded in “Vulture Valley“ – however, cards already collected can be lost or if one is lucky one can win another card. The player who dices the most paws on pack cards is declared the winner and the leader of the savanna. “Jackal & High“ by Andreas Schmidt for 2 to 5 players 8 years and up. Game lasts about 20-30 minutes. Price approx. EUR 10. www.zochverlag.com. Kroko Togo Evolution has played a trick on several animals Krokofants, liodils, goraffes … the animals of the savanna appear here in unconventional crossbreeds. “Kroko Togo“ by Zoch demands the full attention of players. A task card shows which of the animal cards displayed is being “sought”. The aim is to capture the correct animal at the center of the table as quickly as possible as all of the two to six players are searching at the same time. However some animals must also be avoided. Alertness and quick reactions are just as important here as quick perception. “Kroko Togo“ by Valery Fourcade and Jean-Philippe Mars, for 2 to 6 players 8 years and up. Game lasts about 15-20 minutes. Price approx. EUR 10. www.zoch-verlag.com.
