Goodrich Youth Ball Mission Statement
Goodrich Youth Ball is a recreational program for students to learn and develop softball and baseball skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. All students play on
teams that are balanced by age and skill level. The program teaches good sportsmanship and teamwork and is community centered involving volunteers and community
partners.

Youth Ball Calendar
Games begin the week of June 5th,
Monday—Thursday at 5:30pm or 7:00 pm start time
Regular season ends July 11-12th.
Playoffs for all divisions except T-Ball are
July 12th through July 20th for qualifying teams.
No playoffs for T-Ball.
(No games will be played the week of July 3rd-July 7th in
celebration of the 4th of July holiday.)

Player Clinics and Team Placements
Goodrich Youth Ball
Player skill assessment clinics are held for all leagues, except T-Ball. Clinics are at the Middle
School Ball Fields, 7480 S. Gale Road, Goodrich. Teams are assigned and rosters given to
coaches the week of May 1st. Coaches will call or email individual players once team
selections have been made.
Rain date is Thursday, April 20th. There will be no evaluations for T-ball.

Coaches notify players of their team’s practice schedule and location of practices
after May 1st when teams selections have been made. Please be patient for notifications.
Boys and Girls Coach Pitch, Junior Girls and Pony Boy practices will begin the week of
May 8th. Practices focus on game fundamentals and skill development.
T-Ball practices will begin the week of May 8th. Players begin the process of learning
basic game fundamentals and beginning skills.
Practice days and times are subject to change due to field availability. There will be one
practice a week but may fall on a different day other than the regular game days. The
team coach will notify each player.
Rules
“Goodrich Youth Ball Rules“ have been adapted from various league rules and will be available
by request at the Community Education office.

Payments must be received by the dates specified to qualify for early bird and regular registration rates. Registrations submitted after the March 31st deadline will be put on a waitlist. No refunds after April 21, 2017 (Commitment
is expected for the entire season. Teams are determined by total number on each team and games schedules are
determined by number of teams.)

* * * Volunteer for Youth Ball! * * *
Volunteers Needed—Coaches AND Assistants
Volunteers are the backbone of Youth Ball! No experience needed. Youth Ball Coordinator,
Mike Tison, will provide a volunteer coaches training and information meeting on
Wednesday, April 26th, from 6:30-8:00pm in the Oaktree Media Center. At this
meeting, coaches will sign up for field practice times, receive their team rosters, and pick up
their equipment bags.
All coaches must be at least age 18 and are required to complete a confidential background
check through Goodrich Community Education in order to work with children and must be updated annually. Background check forms can be completed at the coaches meeting.
