National Swimming Coach
The Danish Swimming Federation in cooperation with Team Denmark is seeking a
national coach.
The overall objective of the coach will be to ensure the continued development of Danish
elite swimming at the highest international level. The specific objectives are to achieve
medals for Denmark at the Olympics, World Cup and European Championship. The
primary focus is on international long course championships.
The national coach will work within the structural and organisational framework defined in
the 2016 Swimming Plan and will be responsible for carrying out and achieving the longterm sporting objectives that are also listed in the 2016 Swimming Plan. Furthermore, the
national coach will work with a starting point in the sporting objectives agreed between the
Danish Swimming Federation and Team Denmark.
On a daily basis the job is based at the federation’s office in Farum, Denmark. The
national coach will be part of the Sports Department, which, in addition to the national
coach, there is the director of sport, NTC head coach, assistant NTC coach, talent
developer and elite coordinator.
The national coach reports to the high performance manager.
Overall, the post has two focal points - the national team and working to secure an
international elitist development in the Danish elite clubs.
In relation to the national team, the national coach must, among other things, work with:
 Establishment of overall guidelines for the national team, in cooperation with the
director of sport.
 Team selection and the selection procedure.
 Be a key figure in the cooperation of the national team with the director of sport,
NTC head coach, club coaches, club leaders and swimmers.
 Planning the national team’s season.
 Responsible for as well as participation in the federation’s national team training
camps and competitions.
 Follow-up of national team athletes both in relation to the swimmers themselves
and their personal coaches.
In the development of Danish elite milieu, the national coach must assist with, among
other things:
 Professional competence development of Danish elite coaches.
 Development of an elite coach development program.


Visits to elite clubs and follow-up of individual athletes and the elite training milieu
as a whole.
Based on the "2016 Swimming Plan", work to develop a club matrix in
cooperation with development consultants.

We are looking for a coach who can:
- Communicate with all major stakeholders in Danish elite swimming.
- Coach, lead and inspire our elite swimmers to participate in daily training and
international competitions.
- Work professionally within a professionally run department, while being able to
understand the democratic and federation related background that the Danish
Swimming Federation is founded upon.
- Ensure excellent and close communication with swimmers, coaches and team leaders
(in the Sports Department).
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining a performance-oriented milieu for the
national team and among the affiliated coaches.
- Lead the way for constructive cooperation with swimmers and club coaches.
- Be ambitious in relation to achieving international excellence and goals, while being
aware of the needs of swimmers on a personal level.
- Develop and maintain good relations with the media.
We expect that you can:
- Demonstrate a solid and relevant background as a coach at a high international level.
- Document a coaching qualification at least level 3.
- Travel with the national team as necessary.
- Provide evidence of international excellence with the swimmers that you have been
working with.
- Cooperate and communicate with the specialists from the Danish Swimming
Federation and Team Denmark, such as sports physiology, sports psychology,
biomechanics and nutrition.
- Share knowledge and experience with other federation coaches and club coaches.
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
