ELBJAZZ becomes a series
elbjazz tracks 424: The new monthly ELBJAZZ concert series
in hall 424 at the Hamburg Oberhafen.
Start is on 28th February with the Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset.
The next concert will be on 31st March with German-French singer
Celine Rudolph together with the West African guitarist Lionel Loueke.
Germany / Hamburg, 26th January 2015 – ELBJAZZ will now take place once a month! In fact not
in form of the festival but no one has to miss finest Jazz and an extraordinary event location.
ELBJAZZ’s aim to organize regular concerts presenting international musicians, became true at
the Hamburg Oberhafen: in hall 424, an old depot hall, which is normally used as a studio or
artist’s workshop.
On 28th February the monthly ELBJAZZ series elbjazz tracks
424 starts with the concert of the Norwegian saxophonist
Marius Neset, who already performed with his quartet on
the stage “Am Helgen” at ELBJAZZ in 2013. For his elbjazz
tracks 424-concert he is going to bring the British
vibraphone- and marimba player Jim Hart.
The CD of the quintet („Pinball“, to be released end of
January) combines power with finesse and sometimes
sounds like an update of the terrific Brit band “Loose Tubes“.
A month later, on 31st
March, elbjazz tracks 424
continues with Celine Rudolph and Lionel Loueke.
Multifaceted influences come together when the GermanFrench singer Rudolph meets the Benin based guitarist
Loueke: She likes South American music, he West African.
Both are ECHO Jazz award winners, he has already played
with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Angelique Kidjo.
Both concerts start at 20 pm, the bar in hall 424 already
opens at 19 pm.
Strictly speaking, the premiere of elbjazz tracks 424 already
took place in December 2014 – five days before Christmas at the impressive just as well
successful „finnischen Winternacht“ with the band Tenors of Kalma. This concert in hall 424

already took the title elbjazz tracks 424, nevertheless, back then it was not for sure if elbjazz
tracks will be a series.
Due to the acceptance to support the local ELBJAZZ concerts with capital of the Jazz sponsorship
by the Hamburg cultural authority – and the positive resonance of the audience and all involved
ones on the „Winternacht“-concert – the regularity in form of monthly concerts is guaranteed.
