GRADING POLICY STATEMENT Atwell Netball Club is a family oriented sports club. We believe in promoting participation in our game, equal opportunity for all players, development of netball and team skills, and above all, enjoyment of the game. The club believes that placing players in a grade appropriate to their skill level plays a significant role in achieving these objectives. The grading policy aims to promote these objectives, and is not just about winning. Grading gives the opportunity to: •

be in (and play against) teams with other players of similar attitude and ability. have an equal opportunity to participate, and have an equal opportunity to contribute to the team’s performance These conditions provide the best circumstances for development of netball and team skills and enjoyment through participation and achievement. Through appropriate grading and player placement the Club aims to cater for all players and believes that everyone can benefit from the grading process. GRADING POLICY: •

Grading will be held prior to the commencement of the season for every registered child Each child will be placed on court and skill assessed within a fair & just manner then placed in an appropriate team within their calendar year of birth ( some exceptions may apply) If a player does not attend grading day, the player will be placed in an appropriate team at the discretion of the committee Teams may become a mixed aged team should there not be sufficient registration within a particular calendar year. Should a player show a higher level of ability than the majority within their calendar year of birth they may be graded in a team of a different calendar year Should there be enough players within a particular calendar year of birth for grading (eg born 1999) 8 players register. This will create 1 team, therefore no grading will be necessary Atwell Netball Club will endeavour to create teams of no more than 8 players – however should registrations received either on registration day or grading day exceed teams of 8 a team of 9 may be necessary Once registration & grading days are finalised, no player registration will be taken unless there is a vacancy in an appropriate team (Teams with less than 8 players) GENERAL CONDITIONS •
Throughout the general season all players shall be granted equal court time. Players of higher ability shall not be over played. During finals Atwell Netball Club will expect all players to receive at least ¼ of court time per game. Should a coach deem a player unfit for finals (sick – injured) and chooses not to play the player and the player opposes this, then the decision not to play the player must be approved by the club President or delegate. www.atwellnetballclub.myclub.org.au email: [email protected]
