Purpose of the role The Gardening role is to maintain, develop and revive gardens and ensure that the garden and its surroundings are maintained in a safe, tidy and aesthetically pleasing environment reflecting upon the fact the surrounds are part of ‘God’s House’. Plan\Role profiles\Corps Roles\Corps roles 1 Generic Role Competencies Knows how to prioritises work and determine what is most important Ensures that risks to people, assets, and reputation are identified and acted upon Shows care and respect in the use of property and equipment particularly that is not their own Ensures that equipment used is cleaned/serviced & maintained as required to ensure reliability & longevity Ensures safety of self and others in work environment at all times Appropriately identifies & reports hazards and incidents as they occur Role Required Tasks Key tasks of the Role Undertake gardening activities Key Activities Weeding Mulching Planting and replanting Mowing of lawns/pruning of hedges/ clipping of plants Watering of lawns and garden beds Expected Outputs and measures Garden maintained in a clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing manner Ensure lawn mower is cleaned & refilled with petrol after use Any garden tool used is cleaned & stored away appropriately Ensure that watering system is functioning & set at the desired time to operate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Actively use PPE at all times when completing gardening activities. Monitor condition of PPE and address issues with equipment with the manager Maintain a safe and healthy environment Monitor and rectify any health and safety concerns within the garden and surrounding lawns and area. Escalate issues that cannot be attended to the corps officer.
