1 Corinthians 16:1-2
“1Now about the collection for God’s
people: Do what I told the Galatian
churches to do. 2On the first day of
every week, each one of you should
set aside a sum of money in keeping
with his income, saving it up, so that
when I come no collections will have
to be made.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
“6Remember this: Whoever sows
sparingly will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows generously will also
reap generously. 7Each man should
give what he has decided in his heart
to give, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful
giver.”
But God allows us to enjoy what we
have in life, and He asks that we give
only a portion back as a sign of our
thanksgiving and faithfulness.
Yet how much is that portion ? And
what are the principles behind biblical
spiritual giving ?
Genesis 4:2b-5
“Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked
the soil. 3In the course of time Cain

an offering to the Lord. 4But Abel
brought fat portions from some of the
firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked
with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but
on Cain and his offering he did not look
with favor …
