Mission: To provide quality undergraduate liberal arts education responsive to the needs of individual students.
Goal: To assure that INDS general studies degree completion option graduates have pre-professional skills
resulting from UAF’s Core curriculum requirements in the areas of humanities, arts, social sciences, sciences,
mathematics, and good oral and written communication skills.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
IMPLEMENTATION PROCEDURES

Students will complete the PRAXIS I preAnnually during Fall semester members of the
professional skills test in their final semester at Undergraduate INDS Steering Committee will review
UAF.
the PRAXIS I test results of all undergraduate INDS
general studies degree completion graduates from
the previous year and will write an evaluation of the
work in light of the purpose of this program.
Exit survey. Required for Graduation
The Dean of the Graduate School will administer an
exit survey for all students in this program, which will
ask whether graduates think they met their personal
learning goals at UAF and whether their learning at
UAF has contributed to their subsequent success.
Each year during Fall semester members of the
Undergraduate INDS Program Steering Committee
will review the surveys returned that year.
Annually during Fall semester members of the
Undergraduate INDS Steering Committee will review
the collection of student statements of rationale for
entering the general studies degree completion
program.
Using the information from the transcript review,
PRAXIS I test results, and surveys, the Steering
Committee will recommend changes in admission
requirements, curriculum, advising, or other aspects
of the program as needed. They will submit a
written report to the Dean of the Graduate School
annually. The committee will submit needed
curriculum changes to the Faculty Senate process.
