STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Position: Chief of Staff, Student Government Association Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership and organization skills; should possess strong decision-making skills and should have the ability to pay attention to details without losing sight of the big picture. The Chief of Staff has the responsibility of keeping all of the other executives on task and helping facilitate their initiatives. Successful candidates should be strong communicator with consistent follow through. Must have a positive attitude and willing to work hand-in-hand with the President. Minimum requirements: ● Shall have completed one semester as a full-time UNCW student and must have a current and cumulative grade point average no lower than 2.5. ● Shall be and remain in good standing with the university as determined by the Office of the Dean of Students. ● Shall be available for the 2017-2018 academic year. Responsibilities (per the SGA Statutes): 202.1 The term of the Chief of Staff shall be the last ten (10) months of the Student Body President’s term. 202.3 The Chief of Staff shall adhere to the following duties: a) Organize and distribute all written communication and other information for the SGA Executive Cabinet b) Coordinate all SGA Student Services needs and preparation between inauguration and the start of the fall semester including but not limited to Seahawk Savings, SafeRides, and Legal Services. c) Serve as a nonvoting member of the Senate Planning Committee. d) Plan a minimum of one Open Forum to the Student Body with attendance of the Student Body President and Student Body Vice President. e) Shall serve as the liaison between the Campus Activities and Involvement Center’s Service Area Manager f) Serve as a proxy for the Student Body President when designated. g) Meet individually with each member of the Executive Cabinet a minimum of once per month. h) Assist members of the Executive Cabinet in completion of projects. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION i) Coordinate and attend all involvement carnivals for SGA during summer orientations with Student Body President and Student Body Vice President. j) Work with the Student Body President to plan the summer retreat for the Executive Cabinet. k) Plan and coordinate the SGA Inauguration Ceremony in the spring semester. l) Shall be responsible for preparing the SGA mailboxes, name tents, and name tags. m) Shall attend media training and serve as a point of contact to speak on behalf of the organization n) Coordinate and attend one Residence Hall Tour per year. These meetings shall be used to speak directly with UNCW on-campus residents to solicit feedback, and provide an opportunity to hear directly from constituents. These events shall be held separate from the Student Senate Meetings, and Executive Cabinet meetings. o) Shall be responsible for the general organization of the SGA office. p) Maintain and update the SGA computers, phone line, and other technology equipment. q) Coordinating all tabling and volunteer events requiring SGA attendance. r) Plan and coordinate all of SGA’s involvement activities within UNCW’s Homecoming Week s) Promote SGA UNI 101 Workshops and schedule classes t) Shall chair the Outreach Committee Compensation: The Chief of Staff will receive a $300 stipend per month.
