Baseball season is just around the corner and it is time to get ready for the
evaluation process to select the Pee Wee A and AA rep teams for the 2017
season. The evaluations will take place over two sessions at Ford Field. Players
should bring their gloves, batting helmets, cleats, a water bottle, and be dressed
in baseball pants.
The tryout process will include evaluation of different baseball skills including
throwing, fielding, hitting, pitching, and base running. Players will be ranked and
the selection to the team will be based primarily on baseball and athletic ability.
Attitude and work ethic will also be key considerations. As we will be attempting
to see the boys demonstrate their abilities in a short time frame, there will be a
minimal amount of coaching taking place.
We will try to choose players that we believe have the skill, potential, and the
attitude to be A or AA caliber ball players. As Head Coaches, Eliaja and I are
assigned the responsibility to make the final decisions in choosing the team; so I
ask that you please respect the decisions made by our selection committee, and
ultimately the Head Coaches.
As a member of a Rep Team, you are committing to a very busy schedule. We
will practice a few times before league play begins and will be playing most
weekends from the beginning of May until the end of July. Practice is mandatory!
Practice nights will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ford Field for the AA team
and Monday and Wednesday for the A team.
