Job Purpose:

To aid in the identification and development of the most talented players within the junior boys game in
Ontario’s regional development program (U16 girls)

To aid in the selection of Junior Boys Provincial squads (U16 girls)

Potential selection for Junior Provincial coaching team roles (selection to be made through performance
evaluation through regional program; coaches must be part of regional development program to be
considered for selection)
Key Accountabilities:
Area of work:
To support the development of players in the Ontario East Junior Boys Development
Program (U16 Girls)
Individual Player
Identification and
Team Selection
To monitor players in the regional junior development programs and identify best
performers within age group (U16 Girls)
To ensure players from the regional groups with the capacity to play for the junior
provincial teams are identified and promoted accordingly in accordance with Rugby
Ontario selection policies
To support relevant managers regarding communication of selection and de-selection in
accordance with guidelines set out by Rugby Ontario
To deliver Rugby Canada National Key Themes to regional development squad
To deliver Rugby Ontario ways of playing themes to regional development group
Player and Team
Development
To ensure coaching sessions facilitates individual player and sub-unit development
To ensure that the regional coaching program is delivered to include technical, tactical and
mental aspects of development
To develop a coaching environment that is conducive to developing performance
behaviours and encourages player interaction and ownership within the program
To ensure that coaching is delivered in a player-centred fashion
To ensure that sessions plans are developed prior to each session in conjunction with
Junior Provincial Team Head Coach (U16 Girls)
To liaise with regional manager with regard to individual players, taking into account
player welfare at all times

To ensure all players selected for the regional development group receive performance
feedback reports within two weeks of program completion

To attend talent ID meetings during and post-program as directed by High Performance
Manager

Shared responsibility for building & sustaining a high performing regional team
Responsible for selection of regional U16 Girls east team
Input into Junior Provincial Team (U16 Girls)
Involved in the planning, preparation and roll out of a programme of training/coaching for the regional group
throughout the specified season
Formally review the performance of individual players and create the appropriate environment for individual
improvement based upon regular reviews (verbal and written)

Minimum NCCP Level 2 Trained,
working towards trained status
within 18 months
NCCP Level 2 Certified
World Rugby Rugby Ready (online)
World Rugby Concussion

Knowledge and Experience:
Experience of working with agegrade rugby teams
Knowledge of Long Term Player
Development principles.
Track record of identifying players
with potential
Understanding and knowledge of Rugby
Ontario Programs and policies
Successful track record developing
age-grade players
Knowledge and understanding of
Rugby Union and the development
of team and individual performance
Track record of success in previous
relevant coaching roles
