THE SHOP GAME you need: flashcards or cut

THE SHOP GAME
you need: flashcards or cut-outs of different objects you can
buy in the shop
general comments:
This game practises natural dialogues and words in context.
Students must say a sentence to get something, which is
very motivating!
how to play:
1. Explain (L1) to students that you are going to play shop. Practice the dialogues. Teach students to stand in a line.
2. Place a chair or a small table in front of you - this will be the counter.
3. Students queue and buy things in the shop one after another (using the dialogues below).
4. A student can replace the teacher and be the shop assistant.
5. If the group is numerous students may be divided into two groups and play two shops, with two different shopassistants. Teacher’s role is to monitor and support the shop assistants.
