May SAs own and operate a camp? o No SAs may not own a camp.
What if multiple institutions own a camp?
o If multiple institutions own a camp/clinic is considered an
institutional camp for all institutions. So, if institution A owns 25%,
Institution B owns 25% and Institution C owns 30% since
institutional ownership is 80% it is an institutional camp for all three
schools.19
May we call prospects or email prospects and other campers about camp
related matters?
o Yes, telephone calls and emails to an individual that relate SOLELY to
institutional camp and clinic logistical issues (bill due, start time,
missing registration) are not subject to the restrictions on recruiting
phone calls or materials.20
May we hire a professional team coach or scout at our camp/clinic?
o it is permissible for an institution to employ an individual who is
involved in athletics talent evaluation (e.g., scout, coach) for a
professional organization or team.21
May we provide T-shirts, planners, or sports equipment to campers?
o Yes, provided the cost of the item(s) is included in the cost of the

award.
May our strength and conditioning coaches and/or athletic training staff own
and operate a camp on our campus?
