Tercentenary Celebration Inter-province Flyfishing match Date - Saturday 29th April 2017 Venue – Rib Valley Fishing Lakes, Westmill Farm, Ware, SG12 0ES Contact Number for Fishery (Rib Valley Angling) 01920 462200 Cost £180 per team (£30 - 3 fish ticket X 6) From M25 Junct. 25, take A10 North past Ware turnoff, take A602 exit after crossing the long viaduct after Hertford turnoff and head towards A602 Stevenage, fishery is on left after a short distance on left before amenity tip. From A1 take A602 Stevenage turnoff and follow A602 right through past Tonwell, venue will be on right after tip. How match will be organised. 1. Each of the 5 provinces involved (Herts, Bucks, Middx, Berks & Oxon) will be entering a 6 man team. NB I would suggest a reserve angler or two comes along in case a team member has to pull out at last minute (see later note re substitutes). 2. The ticket covers 3 fish to be taken only, after that it will be catch & release NB It is the anglers responsibility to ensure any extra fish are weighed prior to release (scalesmen will be provided by Herts for this purpose). 3. Result will be decided on total weight of fish caught & taken by a team, in the event of a tie on weight, the weights of additional fish caught and released will be used as a tie breaker, hence the need for reserves to ensure all 6 slots are used. 4. Initial start pegs are drawn randomly, however after a period of time a horn will be sounded and all anglers move along 3 pegs clockwise, start of all sessions will be by whistle. 5. Because of cost implications, food will not be provided, anglers will have to bring their own. 6. Each angler will have a catch card, on which will be recorded number of fish taken and any extras released weights, these to be signed at weigh in, so angler confirms weight recorded for him is accurate i.e. not scalesman fault if an error occurs. This card to be then handed over to organisers to calculate team weights for result. 7. The fishery has a lodge with tea/coffee making facilities and toilets, also there is an excellent tackle shop on site, there is a restaurant on site but it’s not cheap. 8. Competitor qualification, they must be one of following:- a freemason; a friend or relative of a freemason, or have some involvement with the Masonic Fishing Charity. 9. Practice prior to match, all competitors are welcome to do so but at their own cost. NB The Masonic Fishing Charity is holding an event on the 26th April, so the lake will be in use that day. 10. As unlike Coarse match, there is nothing for the reserves to do, teams can substitute a reserve for an initial team member during the match, however only original weight card is used and no extra fish from 3 taken limit applies e.g. Fred from Herts starts off and has two fish, Fred is substituted by Charlie, and hands over catch card thus Charlie can only take one more fish then has to do catch & release. NB Any extras caught by Charlie will count if needed.Any fish on but not landed at time of session end hooter can be landed and will count, but only if landed within 10 minute move slot. Once landed angler must vacate peg immediately afterwards so as not to impede next angler, we’ll probably delay next session start after this providing delay is reasonable i.e. it would be unfair to wait half an hour for them to land fish and then move. Timescale 8 am – 8.30am Peg draw. 9.00 am Match starts (Session 1). 9.45 am First move sounded 9.55 am Session 2 starts 10.40 am Second move sounded 10.50 am Third Session starts 11.35 am Third move sounded 11.45 am Fourth Session starts 11.55 am Fifth move sounded 12.05 am Fifth Session starts 12.50 pm Sixth move sounded 13.00 pm Sixth session starts 14.00pm Match ends, Weigh in will start ASAP 14.00pm plus result calculation takes place, suggest anglers make use of tea/coffee making facilities at this point 15.00-15.30 pm Presentations.
