VOLUNTEER BASEBALL BUDDIES NEEDED!
for New Paltz Special Needs
Bambino Buddy-ball League
New Paltz Youth Baseball & Softball Association is pleased to announce the formation of a Bambino Buddyball Baseball Team for special needs school age children age 5-21 living in the New Paltz Central School
District and surrounding school districts. Sessions will focus on learning basic baseball skills and playing short
games with fellow team members. The goal will be to have fun playing ball at whatever level each child can
play. A few “just for fun” games with other special needs baseball teams in our area will be held.
Buddy Qualifications:
Willingness to help special needs kids play ball, which will involve cheering kids on, playing catch, helping
kids learn to swing a bat, helping kids run the bases, doing simple stretches at the beginning and end of each
practice. You do not need to be an expert baseball player to volunteer, but should be physically fit to play ball.
Middle School, High School, and College students are encouraged to volunteer. Community service hours can
be provided. Any volunteer age 18 or over must consent to a criminal background check.
Dates:
April 9th: Opening Day Parade & Picture Day (line-up 8:40am New Paltz Middle School parking lot; parade
starts at 9am, followed by Opening Day Ceremony at Hasbrouck Park, ending by about 11:30am). Team
picture will be taken at New Paltz Middle School after the Opening Day Ceremony.
April 16 – June 4: Practices will be held weekly on Saturdays. A few “just for fun” games will be scheduled
with other local special needs teams (no scorekeeping; dates to be determined).
Time & Place:
Saturdays, 3-4pm, Hasbrouck Park, Mohonk Ave., New Paltz, NY 12561
