Early Life
 Born on 17 September 1950
 Vadnagar, Mehsana district, Bombay State
 Father: Damodardas Mulchand (1915–1989)

Gandhi declared a state of emergency in

secretary of the BJP's Gujarat unit.
 He is the main campaigner of the L. K.
Advani's 1990 Ayodhya RathYatra in 1990
and Murli Manohar Joshi's 1991–92 EktaYatra
(Journey for Unity)
 Modi's electoral strategy was helped BJP to
winning Gujarat Assembly election in 1995.
 In 1995 Modi elected as the BJP’s national
secretary.
 In May 1998 Modi was promoted to BJP
general secretary (organisation).
Chief Minister of Gujarat (2001–14)
 On 3 October 2001 Narendra Modi sworn as
Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Contribution to Gujarat
 Under his leadership launched policy-driven
reform programmes, reoriented government’s
administrative structure and successfully put
Gujarat on the road to prosperity.
 Fighting against all odds, obstructing the
construction. “Sujalam Sufalam” – a scheme to
create a grid of water resources in Gujarat is
yet another innovative step towards water
conservation and its appropriate utilization.
