Games in Europe Classification of games in the EU Pegi The Pan-European Game Information (PEGI) age rating system was established to help European parents make informed decisions on buying computer games. Pegi marking of games is based on what can be found in them and what the recommended age of their users is. Censorship in games In some European countries these rules are very respected, for example in Germany. EU version German version However, there are other various restrictions on games. In Denmark a sports game EA SPORTS MMA was banned, but not because of the prevailing violence there but the advertising of energy drinks. Germany despite censoring games sometimes bans them: Controversy In 2002 Greece banned computer games. After that gaming in public places could be punished with imprisonment. The European Union did not support the actions of Greece and accused it of violating civil rights.
